What's the best security system?
What's the best security system with little to no regaurd to price. Want to be able to roll up windows and close sunroof, shock sensor, loud alarm, and 2 way paging device. Let me know what you guys think.
hey, if you are looking for the best you want to go viper/sidewinder. viper has the 800 esp alarm, sidewinder has the 7000esp. both are very expandable. DEI(the ones who make it all) has all the accessories for customizing you system the way you want it, windows modules, pager interfaces, back up batteries, perimeter sensors,as well as remote starts. you will definatly want to see your local DEI dealer and have them help you put together the system that is right for you. let me know on the prices you get and I will let you know if it is in line with what you are getting. good luck
clifford avantguard IV, only alarm to use remote fuel cutoff, even if thieves find the brain, they aren't starting it without finding the remote fuel cutoff as well. All clifford alarms also utilize passive starter disable, where if the brain of the alarm is ripped out the started still won't work, other alarms use active starter disable, when the alarm is going off the car won't start, but yank the brain on the alarm and vroooom away they go. 99.9% of a good alarm is install, just make sure whatever alarm you get the jackamonkeys do a clean install. 95% of the installs I've seen I can find the brain in less than 30 seconds, what that means is a thief can find it in 5. If you're looking for a good paging alarm the clifford RS3 is a good toy(same as the viper 790 responder). If you're looking for an alarm with lots of ext channels the viper 800esp and a 6 channel expander works wonders.
What's your budget and what are you trying to do?
I've had a car stolen from my driveway before and every since then I've been **** about security, right now I'm using some kind of alarm brain(no need to tell you as they don't even make it any more) with passive arming, 30 seconds after I close my door, all my windows and sunroof closes, my doors lock, then you can hear my tilt sensor lock(it uses a gyro inside and when you arm the alarm it locks itself into place and feels if you try and tilt the gryro), when the alarm goes off thieves are in for a real surprise, first thing is the pager which lets me know some *** is playing with my car, then I have two external sires both with battery backups, 4 interior pain inducers with a battery for those, I have a whelen strobe controller, with 4 exterior strobes and two interior strobes(these are police strobes not little flea market APC strobes), and to get to the brain of my alarm takes me about 4 hours of removeing my dash, if a thief was using a pry bar he might be able to get to it in 30 minutes, but the pain inducers and strobes going off in their face tend to make them run away. I've had my car go off in my driveway and come outside to find a slim jim in my window, and a bag of tools on the ground next to the car, so I guess it works
although most of the time my car sleeps in the garage unless in tinkering on something. In the garage not only does it have the alarm, but a 100lb lab that sleeps 10 feet from it :D
just thought I'd edit and add..
are you installing this yourself or having it professionall installed?
Here's some great prices for clifford stuff.

IMHO, you've got to have:
1) Battery backup siren (with the batteries INSIDE the siren body)
2) Perimetric protection - door, hood, etc.
3) Volumetric protection - interior motion sensor, high frequency or ultrasonic
4) Immobilisation that cuts off more than one vehicle operating system - starter, fuel pump, ignition, etc.
5) Tilt sensors, glass break sensors, etc. are optional. If it were my car, I'd insist on having a tilt sensor.
Any opinions on Clifford/Viper/etc? How do they compare to Cobra (An Italian company).
