Default 1989 civic

Hello, I am new here and my parents just bought me a 1989 honda civic 4 door. I figured I might as well fix it up and I know absolutely nothing about imports. I was wondering if anyone could give me some links to sites to where I could get information about it . Thanks for the help.

what kind of information are you looking for, general knowledge on your car would be best to buy a manual. you can get them online or at a local auto parts store. but for other information, just search the net. you should find what you need. im a newbie as well, so you just have to search.

is your civic a DX/LX/EX? first find out about your car, like what motor it has in it stock, what the specs are, then decide what you'd like to do to the car. do you want to make it handle and corner better? do you want it to accelarate more quickly? do you want it to look very nice?

there's a lot you can do to it. just decide what you want to accomplish and where you want your car to end up and how it will be different from the way it is now. then decide which order you'll do things in.

people here are all about motor swaps. putting a Japanese Civic SiR1 motor in your car (b16a) would be a great upgrade. Some people will tell you to do suspension first though.

good luck and along the way as you have questions do a search first, then if you can't find info, ask someone in the appropriate forum.

Just stick around on this site and you'll learn a lot...If you need anything, before you ask run a search (upper right hand column) and if it comes out nothing, we'll be more than happy to help. Just givin you the ropes so you dont get flamed, nothing personal, hehe..

Well, since you're looking to go fast, are you looking for straight line performance (drag)? Or handling (auto-X)? With your car, there's quite a few options motor wise if you're thinking of doing a motor swap. Just a little advice, thoroughly research whatever upgrade you're planning, learn from everybody else's mistakes, it'll save you a lot of trouble in the long run, not to mention $$$$$$$$$
