Default Update:stolen ITR recovered

Well the police found my R a couple of days ago and it was butchered. . Anyways thats not the worse part, now my insurance company is being complete dicks about the whole thing. They are interrogating me and my wife, with recorded statement after recorded statement. They claim that they are trying to find the culprits that stole my car, but it feels like they are trying to point the finger at us. They repeatedly told me today that there is no way to steal this car. You can only steal it with a key, because there is a chip in the key and it wont start without it. Anyways I just feel like they are trying to get out of paying me which is ridiculous. I guess it's time to get a lawyer. What do you guys think? Anyone had to deal with this sort of thing? Thanks in advance!

[QUOTE]

That worthless immobilizer kept my wifes ITR from being driven away. They had the whole car wired up and their own ignition, but no immobilizer chip.

i totally agree......since when?..my parents just bought a volkswagon bora not long ago and theyre crappin on about theres a chip in that key...just to impress them folks
long as i know, hondas dont come with chips ..maybe only the 2002 civics, jazz,s2k(2002) and maybe nsx's....itr is not ranked high enough to be chipped..ones that cost over 50k probly might just pass but this is ridiculous, get the lawyer, frame em up...grab ur cash and go

no. the immobilizer is two parts. one part in the steering column to detect the
chip in the key, and the other is in the ecu that recieves the signal to run the fuel
injectors. all integras after 2000 had the immobilizer. only civics did not come
with them to my knowledge.

before you call someone a dumbass, maybe you should know what you are talking about first

This may just turn into another "Punk" story. I would get a hold of him, he could help you out with his findings.

It doesn't sound like his lawyer helped him out too much. Either way he just has to wait for the lame *** insurance company to get around to paying out -- the lawyer will just cost you money.

I would spend the time looking up the laws on insurance companies and see how what the regulations are for payout, etc. and keep mentioning that you are going to complain to the insurance regulatory board, etc. Good luck, there's nothing like getting f'ed twice.

Ask your insurance, if the ITR is impossible to steal than why are so many stolen? Around one a week goes missing on this board alone. The immobilizer will not stop a towtruck or flatbed. And a professional theif can go around it in minutes. If somebody really wants to steal your car it is gone.

honda immobilizers are a joke. people are finding new ways to steal hondas every day.

ever notice how easy it is to get a key made of a 2000+ car at acura. all you need is the vin number and id. just imagine if you have an inside connection. any car you want, at anytime. cars are being pushed and flat bedded.

your insurance company is stupid to think the immobilizer actually works. maybe if you were driving the chipped mercedes then i'd question it as an insurance adjuster. but i guess they don't know what the theft rate of any integras are.

ITR632, what insurance company do you have? I'm sure noone here wants to use them being that good insurance is the only thing we have when it comes to theft.
