well its my beater but also my racer, LOL the interior will go back in when im done getting all the **** cleaned up and remove all the tar. i got the dry ice at a local grocery store for 1.09 a pound, works so good!!!

im just trying to find ways to getthe car lighter, without removing major stuff like bumper supports and stuff

yes i do have a amp and 1 12" sub and then some 6x9's but im selling the amp and sub

what kind of weight is saved by doing this (removing the tar)? I'd like to do it to lighten up my hatch but heard that it makes road noise, ect really loud. How loud cuz once ya rip this stuff out there's no going back I imagine?

So do you guys think its worth it? I'd still be keeping the interior, just removing the tar stuff.

if you do strip out the interior like hes doing theres gonna be so much road noise, but after a while you get used to it. i dont really think the tar is to reduce weight, its just ugly having it in your car without the interior.

Word, I had the back stripped out of my turbo CRX for a bit, but I just didn't like the way it looked. I mean what's the point? That 5~10's lbs of tar isn't worth the extra noise you're gonna have to put up with on a daily basis. The plastic interior and seats may all weigh a total of 20lbs. But what if you need to ride more than 1 extra person a ride?

As far as I'm concerned stripping out the interior does nothing more than paint a big target on your car. I mean if someone walks by your car, what are they gonna notice more a plane jane car or something with the **** ripped out of it. Just gives thieves another reason to steal your car. In my own car I pulled the back interior out and put "pink panter" house insulation above the fenders just to knock down exhaust noise some.

NICE work on the corners though, they look good

My daily driver was also stripped before. I too think that it's worthless to gut it out for a daily driver. Plastic doesn't weigh a lot. Probably the whole interior weighs less than one passenger seat.

i had the same question so when i took the tar out of my 89 hatch i put all of it in plastice zip lock bags and weighed it... 21.6 pounds! including the bags which were 6 grams each so the actual weight was 21.6lbs-12grams!

Here's a list of what your interior really weighs.

It took me like 3 days to remove all the sound deadening material because that's when I had just gotten all four of my wisdom teeth taken out.
