Polishing a Valve cover.
Start off using rough sand paper (120 grit) then work your way to 300 grit, then 600 grit, then finish with fine steel wool. be sure to sand in a straight line. takes a few hours.
Mine is not completely done but here it is...

it was my first time and I just guessed on the sandpapers to use. I didn't even unscrew it. Just remove the spark plug wires and A couple other things like the oil cap (be sure to plug the hole though with a cloth or something) I am not completly satisfied with it but it looks a hell of a lot better than it did stock.
Oh by the way you can also remove the plastic off of your battery tei down and polish it as well. (It is hard to see in the pic)

id go w/ some 200, 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 if you really want it blingy, then get a dremel polished kit, and some mothers polish
Be sure to remove ALL casting dimples before the final buffing to the reflective shine. Also if you have access to a buffing wheel it will help get the majority of the polishing out of the way so you can just do the tight spots with a dremel, helps save some time.
