I just installed my DC JDM header and SMSP Carsound cat. When you install them, do you guys keep the heat shield on top of the cat? I'd like to remove it because it rattles like crazy. No matter how I tight it or bend it, still rattles. Dunno know how hot can it get if I remove it.

Some comment will be greatly appreciated.

i removed mine to install a harness and forgot to put it back on. no extra heat has been felt, so I just left it that way. should be okay.

 

I took mine off to install my cat also, and like Yosh, I forgot to put it back That thing is thin & flimsy anyway, I wonder how much heat it will shield?

or you could do what i did. I took my agression out on it with a hammer and now it doesn't rattle. i didn't destroy it, but smashed the parts that stuck out.

 

Thanks guys, now I don't feel that bad if I jank it out. But it is true, that thing is so thin and dangerous with its sharp edges. I got cut twice

But oh well, the good thing is know my R pulls like mad crazy when vtec kicks in and the iddle is as quiet as stock with a little rumble. I like it! Next thing: Custom B pipe and N1 muffler

 

mine rusted off...ran right over it, lol, picked up the pieces, drove to acura, and they put a brand new one on
