a fully built and sleeved motor without a header intake and exhaust, sounds like we have an enthusiast here.....

are you sure you know what you are talking about.... what are you going to stroke the motor to? the 87.2mm stroke NOT 97.2 (my bad thanks adam) is fine just sleeve it and going 13:1 compression is enough.... your not going to be able to take advantage of your motors true potential until you port your head, get some injectors and get a decent valvetrain in there....

basically your motor wont get any better unless you get MORE AIR AND MORE FUEL in there for that high compression and increased displacement.....

I know you know this Mike but it's just a mis type 87.2mm stroke, I agree with you tho Mike.... Just like our setup... 85mm bore B18C with stock crank... Latez

if he uses just stock gsr cams... yes he will be undercammed but all he needs is a CTR/00+ ITR intake cam and he can make plenty of power. i have a few friends running b20vtecs with 12.5:1 compression making 215+ whp with ctr intake cam and just gsr exhaust cam with portflow heads and 310 injectors.

a CTR intake cam will do fine

so if i get my head ported, an get my block sleeved and get my engine stroked to 2.0 liters (with i/h/e by now) i should be makin alot of power?

Why are you sleeving and stroking??? I don't get this... You can get to pretty close to a 2.0L by just sleeving to 85mm... That's ~1.98L motor... You aren't gonna get the power just from physically doing the work... I seriously wouldn't doubt that if you tried to run that motor with 13.0:1 compression with a STOCK ECU that you would lose power over a stock GSR and most likely blow up your motor... To make 13.0:1 streetable requires a lot of tuning as just building the motor.... Just remember tuning is the key to POWER!! Latez

Also most high compression motors like a lot of overlap but a CTR will be fine just as jdmDXrex stated... Peace

dude who are you talking to? because ill admit...i dont know all that much...thats why i come here, to learn stuff so that i don't fuckup my motor, and if your not talking to me, well stop being such a pessemistic flamer!

back to the topic, i'd have to get my motor completely built basically to make 13.0:1 compression work on the street? alright well atleast i know more than i did before, now maybe i won't fuckup my motor, thanks man

For starters sleeve the block.... 13.0:1 is goin to put a little bit of stress on the sleeves... As i said before look into Golden Eagle.... You could get away with stock rods but it would probably be better to upgrade to Eagle or something along those lines... Eagle is fairly inexpensive... Then the headwork... For 13.0:1 you will want a head that flows pretty well, I would definately recommend Portflow, Tom does awesome work... As for cams with that kind compression you would be fine going with high lift long duration cams, anything from JUN3's, Toda B's/C's, or Skunk2 2's/3's..... Any of those cams with the proper tuning will make power... I don't know what octane you got around you but with 13.0:1 the margin of tuning pump gas is pretty small... It's definately possible with Hondata or something but it's going to be a little work... TUNING is the main thing you are goin to be worrying about... Without it your motor just isn't goin to last... Mixing race/pump gas will open up your tuning margin more but then that is just extra $$$$.. TUNING = everything and safety... Good Luck

General rule is to work your way from the outside in. Get the standard bolt ons, then cams, then think about building up the block. There's not really a good reason to go the other way around because a high-comp bored out block isn't going to do a whole helluva lot of good breathing through the stock intake and exhaust tracts.
