Cusco Roll Bar/Cage
Does anyone know of a web site or have any info on Cusco roll bar/cage for a CRX? Also does anyone have any pics of a Cusco bar, and does anyone know if it is autoXing legal?I plan on autoXing my CRX in the near future and I'm trying to gather as much info as possible on cages/bars that are pre-made. Thanks.
I don't have a picture of a cusco cage handy, but every pic I have seen shows curved front a-pillar bars from the main halo. Just about the only SCCA venue that would allow something like this is Solo II. The roll bar might be a good option, though. As for price, they are consistently the most expensive pre-fab kits I have seen for what you get.
Personally, I want my cage to be legal for anything I might want to do in the car.

I had a friend that works in a steel plant make me a custom 4 point bar. I'm waiting on the padding to get here to put it in. It's bolt in, with 2 points behind the seats, and 2 in the rear hatch, on either side of the spare tire well. If I post pics will you guys let me know if its legal for anything or if I should just ditch it?
what would you recomend then. Custom?

I didn't think the price was that bad compared to the kirk racing 4pt. and the Cusco bar is made of molly steel. There is a shop around my area that can get the Cusco 4pt. Bar for $$350 and I believe the Kirk racing is $225(can't remember) + $100(shipping)= $325.

you dont want forward steel bars like on a rollcage. they are just a danger to you. plus, i dont see a reason to put a rollcage in a street car anyway, especially for autox. its called "dead weight". a reasonable option if you must be surrounded by extra steel is a simple rollbar.
anyway, as for it being chrome-moly, its not a great benefit. if its not welded correctly, its just more likely to fail. also, the fact that chromo is stiffer than mild steel is not even a benefit other than weight savings. but thats like taking 1 step forward and 10 steps back putting in a cage unless youre required by competing rules....
please read my rollcage faq. i also recommend that you buy autopower rollbar from ioportracing.com if you decide this is how youd like to waste your money.
