the big shaft turbos have better thrust bearings for longevity and they are better suited/sometimes required for high boost/large turbos T4 60-1's and up. And I'm sure theres also more to it than that, its just not as simple as big shaft = more lag like our resident clown would like you to believe.
right, you're trying to tell me that you can feel the difference in lag between two identical turbos at the exception of having a big or small shaft? keep subscribing to those magazines, Mr. hypothetical racer.
