CRX or Del Sol: My decision
Vtech beckons... but so does the insurance company and the bank. situations arround here do not merit my spending as such, and it is to my pleasure to announce to those whove helped me decide, im staying with the 91 CRX DX Automatic. thanks for all your help. my father agreed to help me swap in an engine in the spring or summer... meaning a manual transmission swap aswell. ANY AND ALL information for this job is welcomed whole heartedly. Which companies do you suggest a motor be baught from, and what are your opinions on B16 versions, B18 versions, and strengths and weaknesses as follows. I'll be doin' a bit of searchin' of my own, but any webpages you guy's know of or people that could help me off of honda tech (until my trial membership is done) or on Yahoo or AIM would be appreciated. First on the adjenda: body fix. I have rust and need paint. the guy said he could put on a bodykit and the summation of the cost would be $1,500 for the work, minus cost of bodykit. Im wondering, is a lip cheaper on a 91 crx? should be right? and if so where. Ack, i know im skipping arround alot, sorry. anyhow, thanx for your help and time.
del sol's are gay i think, i only see girls driving them around and i personally think they are ugly cars, wayyyyyy to small on the inside
i want a Del Sol(slow) Si Vtec, with the factory b16 too. but thats just me as long as it runs 14s consistently with less then $5k into it i'm happy.. its not about speed its about it being newer and the styling.. you dont see many around hooked up.. I just like honda 2 seaters thats all. I would give up my rex for one. oh well like i said thats just me.
yo, which vtech are you getting? I have the 900 Mhz digital cordless... it has all the standard issue stuff... Ie. Caller ID, speed dial, page, and hold... I think it looks much better than the old bulky ones too... the code on the block is VT 40-1922... Thats right, its a 40 series... it has a 3.6v 400mAh Ni-Cd battery pack to keep it running on those late night 1-900 calls. Definatly worth the money...
click my signature... read, learn, search on this dame place (archives!!!)
after that if uhave questions u can aim me... and post around questions that are a lil more technical.. thats why its called honda_TECH!!
BTW VTECH its a phone for god sackes!!! VTEC its found on Hondas!

its funny how you guys freak over something stupid like vtec being mispelled, but the rest of your sentences have more mistakes then that whole post by that guy who mispelled vtec. Dont pass judgement you illiterate boneheads.
Yeah Yeah.. i know.. it's Vtec.. not Vtech... i screwed up but i ran out of "noob" posts for the day... besides, im no english major so spelling really isnt my forte. anyhow, An SI bumper... i'll see what i can get.
200 more pounds?
CRX DX- Curb weight- 1922 lbs
Del Sol SOHC- Curb weight- 2414 lbs *B16 models weigh more too
Lets do some math 'Bonehead'!
2414-1922= 492 lbs + extra weight of the b16
"I think sir, you are incorrect"

It's New Orleans not new orleans you bone head.
You decided to keep a car that needs 1500 in paint and bodywork + 500 for the kit. Now your car is over 3500 and you chose this over a 5200 car that is much newer and has all of the things you want without having to outlay 7-8K to have a CRX with them?
Ok so a Del Sol weighs 200 more pounds than a CRX with a stock b16 but I think sir you are incorrect.

Well, anyone in Lower wisconsin or extreme upper illinois up for a trade and some money? or just selling your 91 Si?...
im looking for a 91 Si Manual with a clean body. i dont care if it's got sterio, or rims, or anything special at all.. as long as it has a solid motor (soon to be swapped anyways) no rust, clean virgin or well painted interior? ALSO, I know, i really missed a deal on the Del-Sol, but what also must be realized is that my insurance will also go up.. and because i'd need a loan for the Del Sol, i get Mandatory FULL COVERAGE. . . i can not possibly afford payments and insurance on the car, no matter how nice it is.

anyone else love the way that some poeple don't understand threads like this? he's already decided on keeping his CRX. he already HAD a thread where people could voice there opinions on what they like better.
as for doing a B series swap, it's much easier in an Si, but still isn't that hard in a DX. just different wiring and such..
and besides, if a DOHC VTEC del sol is only 5200, there's gotta be something wrong with it.. all the ones i can find are 7500 and up... 5200 sounds like a SOHC VTEC, if not an S..

Rexman: here's the low down on the Del Sol: It needed paint. body was streight and no rust, but paint was eaten away somewhere, and it had alot of scuff marks. Furhtermore, the alignment was off. when the gas was punched, it veered left horribly. other than that, no visable ailments. anyhow, i'd like an SI cause theyre easier to work from but they have a heavier frame. what if i baught an Hf and built on that? would i have to wire that differently? it already has MPFI right... (although a scrawny opening) that's the major wireing diference.
there is a clean 91 hatch si in black in schaumburg, by my house. i can check it out and get a phone number for you, looks like the price is around $2500.
never seen a quick del sol either.
And for the folks that think its a tight squeeze in a del Sol.....ever try a Miata? My Sol has more room in it per person than my wife's Firebird, my Escape and for sure my sister's Miata.
No flames intended, just want to "spread the word"......cuz I don't like untruths or uninformed and incorrect opinion......
Steve

You need to open your eyes then. How about running 12's NA in a del Sol? Low 13's NA in street trim??

WreckedHatch: Hey, Sound's great, that's about 1 hour and 15 min's away from me. You say the body's clean? Im not up for dealing with rust... Do you by any chance know or belong to any CRX groups of wisc. or Illinois?
