what brake fluid for type R
what fluid do you guys recommend and how much better is it than stock?i just installed a line lock in mine and used cheep fluid.now the pedal does not feel as stiff.i have bled the brakes 4 million times and in every combination possible and they don't feel as stiff.could it be the fluid and what kind should i use?please help.any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
higher dot rating doesnt neccasrrily mean a better fluid...
pick one for your application...
i wouldnt rec. motul for a street car because if it becomes contaminated it performances takes a nosedive..

quick question, with the ATE fluid, will 1 bottle/can be enough to bleed all 4 brakes or should i be safe and buy one more? i got one that's been chilling in my room forever, not sure if it will be enough.

one can will be plenty.
ATE is good, but Motul is better.

thanks for all the answers.does anyone think the fluid would be causing the problems?also, what process would i use to completely change the fluid out?
i've actually never driven a car with Motul -- ATE works fine in our cars because it is flushed out so frequently.
Couple of things, Up to DOT4, these fluids all absorb water. after they absorb about 3% water they will actuall lose 130 degrees of their boiling point. DOT5 fluids like motul are not as suseptible to water absorbsion and also have a much higher boiling point. You should do a full flush about once a year anyway, down here in florida i do it 3 times a year, especially since i autocross the car. There is a great article on the endless website about the different fluids and brakes in general. read it if you get a chance. as far as method to bleed, take off all wheels, start at drivers side front, and bleed clockwise. do this with the engine running so the ABS gets flushed also. It is easy, but your wife might bitch and say her leg is tired when you get to the second wheel...
You are drag racing, right??? Any brake fluid other than Silicone (DOT 5) will be fine. Other than bleeding I can not think that different fluids will make a difference in pedal stiffness when the brakes are cold. Bleed them some more in a different order.
First off, I would take a close look at your connections and caliper to see if there are any leaks that could introduce air into your system.
I don't think fresh fluid of any kind will differ from one to the next in terms of pedal feel. Over the long haul for sure but using fresh fluid on the street shouldn't cause the problems you've outlined.
BTW. I've used Motul 600 but it does require very frequent changes because it is very hygroscopic. I have used Ford spec fluid for years without problems - it's way cheaper than others but you need to flush often.
