Proper way to bypass Charcoal canister?
After researching archived threads I have drawn three different conclusions...
- Some have no problems bypassing it and blocking the pipe coming from the tank
- Some recieve CEL codes because of the pressure sensor in tank reading excessive pressures (make sense if its blocked), BUT the filler cap has a backup vent in it.
- Some didn't even block it, but smell fumes and have the risk of having gas fumes lingering in the engine comparment (no thank you)
How do vehicles not equipped with charcoal canisters function? Will the pressure in the tank actually go up? The reason I'd like to bypass the charcoal canister is to simply everything in my engine compartment as much as possible. TIA

all i did was run a piece of hose from the solid line on the firewall to the factory vent hose down by the crossmember and blocked off all the vacum ports with plugs i got at napa. this was on my eg but your teg should be the same. this does result in some gas fumes... but that is what the canister is for..
Anyone else? Who has bypassed their charcoal canister? What is the proper way to do this. Besides, on a boosted car, the charcoal canister isn't even working when under boost, so what are you guys who have eliminated it doing?
