Air Intake Temperature sensor causing lag on my h22??
Hey what's up guys?? I have no clue what the problem is with my car so maybe someone can help. When I just start my car and start driving, she drives like she should.. After warming up, I notice some lag in the lower RPM's. I thought it was my ECU that was causing this but it was only part of the problem. I replaced it with another one which helped fix my rough idling. I'm thinking it could be the Air Intake Temperature sensor. Anybody have any clues??
Thanks,
Thanks,
I had the exact same thing, doest it also bog until VTEC?
I had to re do my timing, I just cranked the distributer up all the way, and worked down untill it sounded like a good idle...
Give it a try, easy and isnt always the little small things that really get ya????

idle is good but the lag is there and yes its upto VTEC. email me if you can so i can ask you other questions.

Ok Ill take a stab at this one...has it done this since you installed h22?
As you mentioned it could be the intake air temp sensor but it may not be bad...this sensor tells ecu to dump more fuel when engine is cold to help it warm up...ie high idle after first start...but if your prob doesnt start until after you have already been driving and the engine is warm..I would suggest checking to make sure you have coolant lines in right place...you may have inlet and outlet backwards causing the sensor to trip the ecu for more fuel when the engine is warm instead of cold....hopefully you see what Im saying if not hit me up on pm...

Do you have a header on your car and/or short ram air intake?

I have the same problem.... even with a reprogramed ECU it still feels sluggish...
im getting code 20.. ELD
strange... would have 4-2-1 headers cause this?
My friends Lude's rev up and down really fast i love it (would this be due to a lighter flywheel?), it pulls harder then my h22a for some reason...

hmm i have similar problem and i am still working on fixing it, maybe you are right about the IAT, becasue my problem happened after i replaced the IAT, mine lags sometimes after im am driving for a while and sometimes right after i floor it to race or something and than i come to a stop at a light, when i try to take of from the light now it doesnt move until after vtec.....odd prob i wana find an answer
yeah i really want to find the answer to this problem. I haven't had the ability to enjoy the H22a yet. Still feels like I'm driving my damn f22. Big Rob told me to try certain things. I'm gonna try out what he says and I'll let you know if it works.

problems i noticed when working on a h22a in a 96 kord...
they used the accord intake.... prob... its to small its actually smaller than the h22/23 throttle body itself.
they used the accord ECU.......prob... uh well.. duh

i know
i got three cels
looks like
vtec silonoid
intake air temp
and somethign about evap emmisson/ gas presuree.. i think egr

well i remember i had to swap the EGR wires by the ECU for the swap.. That seems to run right.. I really don't think its my VTEC cuz when it kicks you FEEL it. I'm thinking it has to be my IAT sensor.
i think you are right it mite be the iat but i had an iat cell before i put another one in there and when the cel was on b4 i never had this lag problem only after i put the new one in, i wonder how that works and plus im not gettin a cel right now for it, i actually have no cels at all
If you have a Short Ram intake and a header this may be the problem. The header does not use the factory heat shield. The under hood temps are much higher now. Your short ram intake is now sucking this hot air in. Hot air is less dense and has less available oxygen for combustion. You need a cold air intake and maybe even wrap the header with thermal wrap to keep the temps down. For every 11 degrees you lower the intake temperature you get 1% more horsepower. In other words, lower the intake temp 111 degrees and you will get 10 % more horsepower. 10% of 200 HP is 20 HP so as you can see a loss of 20 HP is very noticeable then. I'm not saying this IS your problem, but it may be the problem or one of the contributing factors...
anybody in the NJ area with a CAI I can use to try out? Don't feel like buying one if its not my problem...
Either way, it's worth buying. It will make a difference. Does it seem to get even more sluggish after you "get on it" a bit?

I had the same problems exactly. Definitely get a CAI and maybe wrap the header. You need to lower your underhood temps. I'm betting this is your problem.
what did you do to fix the problem? just get a CAI and wrap it? No sensors or any of that crap??

Yes, a CAI and wrap the header with thermal wrap.
Edit: No sensors.
