Default Which ITR has better Co-efficency .....better Aerodynamics ....JDM ~vs~ USDM

JDM

USDM

we all know which looks better ...but i just wanna know which cuts thru the air better ....

does the JDM front end have a better co-effecient (sp) drag than its USDM counter part or vice versa ..

any body know ?

TypeR coeffiecient of drag is 0.32 and others (LS, GS, GS-R) are .33.
"To achieve maximum aerodynamic efficiency, the Type R also includes a new chin spoiler and a new wing-type rear spoiler, and the vehicle is 15 mm lower in overall height than the Integra GS-R. These contribute to a 30 percent reduction in the coefficient of lift over the Integra GS-R. and a 1 percent improvement in its drag coefficient. " (The CD for the pre-98 tegs should be .34)

Seeing as the rear wing is the same, ride height is the same, and the chin spoiler (front lip) is very similar, I don't see why the Drag Coefficient would change.

I know what you are talking about.
I honestly do not think the CD would be that different.

But... if the previous Integras' (pre 1998) CD is .34, which is mostly because of the headlights, maybe the JDM front creates more drag, since the JDM integra has 'similar' front end design to the USDM pre-'98 Integras. Look at the car from the side, the difference is NOT as great as you think it is.

JDM front end has more panel gaps exposed on the nose, so I wouldn't be surprised if the USDM front end were slightly more slippery to the air.

The USDM "looks" like it would be better through the air.

So JDM gets the go-fast parts and USDM gets the go-fast front end.

I KNEW there was no reason to get the JDM Front. Costs too much, more drag.

if thats really true ....then i'd never get the JDM front ..even though i want the JDM front to save some weight

just get a CF hood, and spend the rest of your cash on hookers and real mods

Someone just look up drag of a USDM Accord and compare it with the ITR

Or just ditch the front bumper support, which is where most of the weight difference comes from anyway, and spend all of your money on hookers and real mods.

I'll stick with my USDM . The way I see it, differences of aerodynamics in vehicles only come into play when traveling at speeds of +80mph.

Coefficient of drag and aerodynamics is all about frontal area. The frontal area of the two is probably within a few sq inches of each other .......... so the drag coefficients are probably very close.

.32-.34 you would not even notice ................... .32 to .25-.27 or so, yeah, you would .....

Just lower the car and put some sort of underbody plate ....... does the same damn thing as trying to get the front end more aero .....

Coefficient of drag and aerodynamics is all about frontal area. The frontal area of the two is probably within a few sq inches of each other .......... so the drag coefficients are probably very close....
Drag is also affected by ride height, wheel/tire width, underbody/undertray air flow tidiness.

But I think they would be similar too.

Coefficient of drag isn't related to frontal area. A 1:24 scale model of an ITR would probably have the same coefficient of drag as the real thing.

Unless you don't want your car to look like my old one.......

Stay with USDM !
