Default crx just totaled... how does this sound...

got hit head on in my rex the other day, totaled. the car is mine. it has a rebuilt d16z6 w/9k miles on it and a greddy turbo kit. just wondering if i buy a 92-95 hatch. like a dx or something. how much wiring trouble would it be to put this z6 with the p28 in it? i know i will have to add vtec wires to the ecu harness. also seeings how the engine harness i have on it now is modified to plug into a rex, if i do this should i just try and find a new harness off of a wrecked civic that came with this engine?

and also, do the 5g hatches come with abs like the ex civics do?

the si hatch will come with abs and such, but it is a pig. Your best bet would be to use the wire harness off of the 92-95 civic that you plan on buying.

Oh really? Hm. My '93 Si doesn't have ABS. Oh, that's right... ABS was an OPTION. Not only are EG Si hatches rare, but the ones with ABS are even rarer. As for being a pig, so what? It's not like it weighs 3500 lbs. Curb weight is around 2300 lbs, which for a nicely equipped hatch, isn't heavy at all. Yeah, I guess it is a pig if you compare it to a 360 lb. CBR 600 F4i, but in the genereal scheme of things, it's not overly heavy.

Your best bet would be to use whatever harness comes with whatever car it is that you buy (assuming you buy an EG), and run one wire for VTEC if you get something other than an EX/ Si or VX. Don't forget to run the D16Z6 ECU (whatever the P# is for that ECU)...

jeez dude..... calm down... its alright... yes i have the p28 for the z6. i just didn't know if there were any other wires that needed to be added. and i think there are like 3 wires for vtec. and the plugs for a dx ecu are the same as the Si? that way when the plugs plug in, they go to the correct pin on the ecu.

and also do the dx have a tach in dash? i would prefer to get a car that does not have a tach in dash.thanks for the help

also, i know this isn't the cosmetic forum, but do any of you happen to have any pics of a 5g hatch that is that dark grey, almost charcol color (stock color..)? i think i am going to go for that or something like a ford mineral grey, amber corners, black 15's or 16's. some type of front lip and slam it to the ground. (respectably though)

hahahaha... you haven't seen me get all worked up in a lather about something, have you?

From what I've been told and recall, to make a non- VTEC EG a VTEC EG, you just have to run one wire (unless you're going DOHC; that's another story). Ask this on the Hybrid board to be sure. And yes, I believe all the ECU plugs and pinouts are the same.

and also do the dx have a tach in dash? i would prefer to get a car that does not have a tach in dash.thanks for the help
DX does not have a tach in the dash. DX and CX hatches don't. VX, Si hatches do.

no, haven't been to this forum much, always in FI and the crx one. and there is a wire for VTS (vtec solinoid) and VTP (vtec pressure switch) just found it in my old instructions for when i got my old harness back when i did the swap...thanks for the help though...

do the dx and cx hatches have any air bags? ac, any power options, rear drum brakes? just tring to figure out exactly what to be looking for and thinking about. thanks again

Just a reminder, all 92 hatches came with vtec prewired. If you can find a 92 hatch, it will all just drop in. Otherwise i would go with the vx.

They all come with airbags. 94-95 come with 2

I think the only one with power options is the si

all had rear drums but the si

ac was an option for all hatches. don't know if it was standard on any of them. I would assume it was on the si

AC was not standard on the Si, neither was ABS...everybody knows nothing about the EH3. Yes it's 200 pounds heavier, but it has heavy 14 inch steel rims, rear discs, sunroof, and power steering. Which is good except for the steels.

Edit- You should look into finding an Si, then sell that swap and drop your swap into it.

Or boost the Z6. It's a good boosting motor.
