Default Dyno plot of D16y8 and B16 together

Does anybody have the dyno plots of both engines on top of each other. I know the peak power of both but I just want to see the curve of the torqueless wonders.

Click link in sig, go to MENU......DYNO......and they are on separate pages, but they are scaled the same. You can flip back and forwards to compare.....

Its a 93 D16Z6 vs a 99 B16A2, all USDM. Both torqueless

Ok, so I'm a nice guy....here it is overlaid.....

Obviously thin lines are D16. Red is power, blue torque.

wow, is the b16 that much more powerful?
After 5.5 rpms, the b16 spanks the sohc's ***!!

Just a guess but it looks like a sohc Vtec look at the dip and then the rise in the hp like a vtec x-over point

the dyno plot is for a Z6, so it's obviously a SOHC VTEC.

thanks that is just what i was looking for
One thing that you got to give up to the vtec engines is that their torque stays flat almost all they way to redline. Even though they have no torque.

Here is a D16A non-vtec with bolt-ons versus B16 with bolt-ons

D16A = Red, B16A = Blue

SOHC owned the B16 until 6250...oh well...

My 99 D16Y8 in my 93 cx put down 126 with 110 torque. i whooped some b16s pretty bad. all it had was intake, header, stock cat and exhaust.

99D16VTECCivic.....the D16Z6 is the SOHC VTEC engine from 92-95 Civic EX and 93-95 del Sol Si models. In 96-00 Civics and 96-97 del Sols, the engines were D16Y8. I believe the Y8 head flows a tad better.

RR98DX....is that an overlay of the same car? Same wheels/tires? I am surprised at the B16 being so low.....(especially with bolt-ons - mine just had an intake, no ps, and using the stock del Sol Si cat and exhaust....with 16" rims). Do you have the tq numbers?

Downeybear1....nice numbers. That is a crazy looking tq curve though!! Just to clarify - is that a stock exhaust?

That's impressive! Stock D16Y8 is 127hp at the crank and you managed to pull 126hp at the wheel w/ only bolt-one sh*tz....

You pulling our chains or you forgot to mention the other mods?

145whp on a B16? LOL, I'm sorry guys.. but that's just a bit misleading..

The typical stock B16 will lay down 134-138whp, typical stock B18C1's pump out 144-147whp. That B16 is pushing an extra 7-10whp from god know's where, but it'd be no more an even comparison than if I posted some 120whp D16 charts with stock B16 charts. Don't get me wrong, I know there are freak motors out there and people who swear they've pulled 155whp from stock B18C1's and whatever.. but are we interested in 1 case scenario's or the general norm?

BTW seems like the D16 in question is about right, 102-106whp seems to be the norm for D16Z6/Y8's. Jeremy in Ga. (sorry dude I just forgot your sn!) netted 112whp from his Y8 with an AEM CAI alone while another Miami local pushed 122whp with an AEM, DC 4-1 and Apex'i catback.

Ok, your points are well taken. But this isn't a stock B16. I'm also not running 18" rims and tires!! On my website it clearly states what mods. Its with Iceman, no p/s, Hondata stage 2 (base "optimized" map for Civic Si) on 16" Rota rims, 10.3" brakes, oh and the stock tiny del Sol Si cat and exhaust. The D16 plot is my old engine, with Iceman and stock rims, p/s. That's where the extra madd powah came from.

Just wanted to clarify. As you can see, the B16 is significantly down in torque from a typical B18C.
