i was driving my stock 94 dx eg and it just quit running. it just shut off. what is the problem. i have lights and i cant jump it or pop the clutch to start it. i am thinking maybe the alternator or the fuel pump. what is the problem and has anyone had this problem before. the lights dim a little when i try to start it. the tow truck driver said the timing belt could have snapped but i really dont think so. it was replaced about 60k ago. everything sounds okay when i try to start it but it just wont turn over that is why i say maybe the fuel pump. if it was the alternator then wouldn't it sound sluggish when i try to start it??

 

its the timing belt almost 99% sure. u can change the fuel pump yourself cost u maybe 10 bucks. but im pretty sure its the timing belt, same thing happened to me a month ago.

 

check all the fuses

 

I would pop off the valve cover and remove the timing belt cover and see if it's still in tact. If you didn't hear any loud bangs or slaps, it probably didn't break. Get in your car, and turn the ignition on, and see if you can hear the fuel priming. It should kind of be a low whine for a couple seconds then go away. Or, check your fuses and all that garbage as well. I hope it's not the timing belt, you would have heard/felt it if it was.

 

check timing belt again...... same situation happen to my legend ... it was the timing belt.

 

If those mention up top is not it, try checkin distrib., cap, rotor, wires, plugs.

 

it was the ignition coil. finally got it runnin
