stock cat is useless, need a replacement
what's up guys, well i took off my stock cat the other day and i can barely see any light through it, so im guessing that it is partially melted, or clogged or something. well anyway, to get to the point, im in the market for a high flow stock replacement. i have stock usdm everything and i want a high flow cat that i can bolt in without too much trouble. please any advise is welcome. thanks
anybody know anything about them? i need one that will bolt right up to the stock usdm header and the stock exhaust

i would like to get something that is a little more high flow, and i will be replacing the stock exhaust at some point in the near future
Carsound cat or buy a used ITR cat for around the same price.
I have a used stock ITR cat with 5000 mi on it if you get desperate..
you should be able to get most aftermarket cats to fit perfect.....just decide which one u want.....some people are moving away from carsound because of the rateling problem that sometimes occurs.

That being said, the stock ITR cat. is one of the most restrictive pieces in the exhaust system, as anyone who has compared one to a Carsound unit (both visually and by flow statistics) can attest to. Dave at SMSP should be able to make you a cat. that will be a bolt-in replacement. While you have him on the phone, you might also want to inquire about one of his flanges to remove the first (and astonishingly small in ID) bottle-neck at the B-pipe.
well i have noticed a change in performance, there is a hesitation at high rpm's and also i am throwing a cel 67, which is cat below threshold. and can you tell me more about that flange, thanks

When you unbolt the cat., you'll notice that the exit is not 2.25" like the majority of the exhaust (with a few notable exceptions). I have forgotten the exact measurments, but I believe it is somwhere around 1.5-1.75". The B-pipe also has a bottle-neck of the same diameter to match up to the stock cat. Dave sells flanges that are intended to remove this bottle-neck at the B-pipe. The most popular ones he sells are to taper his "JDM header" cats' 2.5" outlet to the B-pipe's 2.25" diameter. However, in your case you would want a flange that is simply 2.25" throughout, to match up with the outlet on your new custom cat. The process is simply to have a muffler shop (or anyone with proper welding skills and equipment) remove the bottle-neck at the B-pipe and weld Dave's flange on.
