What are the widest rear wheels that can fit on an S?
Fiske makes a 10.5" in the correct offset. If you can find the tires, a 295 will fit. On the other hand 285's are much easier to source.
Just an FYI, the Hoosier 275/16's fit on the stock wheels

Sorry to bump this, but I need new rears for mine on stock AP1 rims. Are a 245 too wide? This kind of implys that a 275 will fit on one, but I don't know about all that.
if a 275 fits why wouldnt a 245.... the only issue is gonna be your stock rims.... that should be a nice bulge... wider rear wheels would be recomended for optimum performance... maybe switching to ap2 wheels they come stock with 245s in the rears and you can easily fit some 255s on those....

okay mister know-it-all. the oem size tire that came with ap1 was a bridgestone potenza s02 which is stated as a size 225 but has the actual contact path of a 245.

<~~~~ REAAAALY green to the S2k crowd. The S02s said 225 on them, so I assumed they were really 225s.
Instead of replacing the Potenzas on the car, I'm looking at some Falken Ziex512s that I've liked on a bunch of other cars.
They have a 245/50/16 for the rear. Anybody here running the Ziexs or have any word on wether or not that will fit?

Also just a reminder (for instance)..... a 275 in a Bridgestone may or may not be wider than say a 275 in a Goodrich. I know it sounds odd, but it is true. Plus take into account that some tires have rim guards which can also add to rubbing in the fenders.
I run 18x10's in the rear with no rubbing....but a 285 is overkill, so I run 265's in the rear and 225's up front

why do people insist on coming into a forum where they have not contributed and try to correct people
the the last time the rear contact patch of the OEM 225 is of a 245 go ahead and put 225's in the back and come back to me to let me know how your *** end was all over the road and went into a wall making a 15mph turn

s@ntos, does that mean that if I'm looking at 245 width tires I need to go with a 50 sidewall or smaller? I found a bunch with a 50 sidewall, but don't want to end up rubbing. I know there are different sidewall thicknesses and all, but there has to be a fairly common height that fits.

the only change you will do is 225=245 for the AP1 16's... nothing else... the OEM 225's have a contact patch equal to that of a 245 tire.
at one point i had to throw my stockers on and needed rear tires to get buy a few weeks till my new wheels came in... i could not get a 245 to save my life at the time. only thing i could find was a 225... and boy oh boy it was a scary ride for 3 weeks....
