Default Sound clips of the HyTech exhaust...VERY big files

Have fun...and thank you Graham for the vids.

Here is my car...
2001 Type-R, 44,000 miles...the exhaust has ~8,000 miles on it since I received it, ~25 drag runs, 2 autocrosses, and tons of mountain runs. I know that the exhaust is louder than it was when i received it.

Specifications:
B18C5
Mugen headgasket
toda cam gears +5, +5
Comptech Icebox
HyTech header and exhaust
test pipe, no Cat
Comptech Al flywheel
JDM final drive
Hondata, 4500 rpm vtec x-over
running a little rich up top...

All runs in 4th gear: right click, save as HyTech 26.1MB

Any idea on the smoke from my car? Its at the top end, and I know that I start tapering off towards rich at around 8000rpm, at 8400 rpm I'm at 12:1, just wondering if it's anything else..., I let off the dyno at ~8600 rpm.

Iggy's car...2001 Type-R, ~20,000 miles, exhaust has ~5-6,000 miles on it.
Specifications:
B18C5
Mugen 4-2-1 header, JDM
Mugen twinloop, JDM length
Carsound 54006 cat
A'PEXi VAFC
I believe that the second, or third run has vtec switched to 4500rpm

All runs in 3rd gear: right click, save as Iggy's Mugen 16.7MB

EDITED TO ADD jdmspoonitr's T1R

jdmspoonitr's car
B18C5
AEM CAI
Type-One R header(T1R)
Type-One R exhaust(T1R)
Carsound cat, slight exhaust leak
VAFC, vtec at 4500 rpm

All runs in 3rd gear: right click, save as jdmspoonitr 8.62MB

Great stuff!

Can't say what's the deal with the smoke but the sound is sweet.

The twin loop didn't sound bad either but I'm biased

what is your redline at? do you have the graph from that dyno run? People say that you can't make power past 8.5 with stock camshafts, but I would like to see if that's true.

Only my .02 cents worth.....

Sweet R and mods...nice vids.....very strong numbers.....for now ...I betcha within a year or so of continued autocrosses, mountain runs and drags.....well I think you know what I'm getting at.....that smoke is NOT a good thing. Let's leave it at that.

Only my opinion....11 years as a Canadian Intra-Provincially licenced Toyota, Volvo, HONDA mechanic, which on forums means nothing. Mark my words though.

The redline is much higher than it should be, but we didn't change it from when I had the Toda B's in the car...just an oversite as the tuner kept a couple of my previous settings, and I start rolling off power ~8,100...I think. I stopped the dyno run when the shift light came on at 8,600.

I understand...already expecting to have to rebuild within 2 years, by then I'll be at close to 90,000 miles...what can I say, I drive the car.

What did you say????I can't hear you!!!

HAhaha yeah that sucker is loud. It is actually quite nice on the street, I roll without the silencer everywhere. This is the old design with the two inch bottleneck before the rear section. It sounds way nicer in real life. The car did not sound "MEAN" until I put the header on.

I am happy with the setup overall, I was just hoping for a fatter midrange and more torque. I'm sure this could be achieved the next dyno day we have. I'm gonna throw down the cash and get as many runs in as possible. also getting an fpr and maybe a fuel rail while i'm at it. One thing is for sure though, I have never heard any other Honda that sounds like mine in the cabin. Truly a sweet sound, especially after Austin helped me smoothe out the curve. I gained around 10 horses at certain rpms. The car feels like new and it runs like a beast. I have to be careful on the freeway now, trying not to vtec in 5th. 4500 rpm vtec Xover owns.

Thanks Austin for organizing the dyno day!!! And thanks Graham for the vids!!!
All the people that flaked missed out.

The T1R setup I thought sounded the best, but all were awesome

I couldn't believe Austin's car was smoking that much though

here is my graph

aemcai, T1R 4-2-1 (not power header), T1R catback Version 1, 94066 cat,VAFC set at 4500 rpm

Thanks again Austin, with the little time you spent with it, my midrange is unbelievable. I guess all of us having such similar mods saves us on tuning time. Hopefully we can go to DSR again soon so I can get a little more out of her.

i can't tell, was that blue or white smoke??? at first i thought it was white......but then i thought blue. maybe it's the black car that makes it look blue? white is an indicator of burning coolant isn't it? i see you have an aftermarket headgasket.......could that be a potential source of the problem?

Great vids Austin. What was some of that popping noise going on? Or was that just the video?

Austin's car is definitely louder than mine. My car sounds very much like IGGY's, sounded almost exactly alike when I dynoed. I'm using HyTech's new custom built resonator and not the Magnaflow so that might make a difference as well as me using a cat.

Well...ummm...not really, working on getting a cat in the very near future. From the outside the only things that you can see are the Comptech Icebox, and the HyTech header. The Icebox is CARB approved...still waiting on CARB approval on the HyTech...yes it's been a long time, but we're dealing with the government here

I believe that you are correct, at least that is what I have heard...I know that the numbers are very repeatable at DynoSpot, I am aware that some of the other DynoJets that are local give variances of up to 5whp...but as I said I know that DSR has numbers that are very repeatable, I know the shop, I trust the shop, and Lawerence is one of the best in the area...he's the only person that I would trust to build my engine.
