that sucker revs too high, i dont like going 80mph cruising on the freeway rpm at 4900. its way too high and can it inhale my gas like nothing?
o ya another question, what is the redline for the 1st gen b16a with pr3 ecu? would i need another tachometer?

8200 w/ MT PR3 ECU
around 7600 w/ AT PR3 ECU
Yeh, the Y1 isn't much better. At 83mph I'm at 4500rpms which is VTEC x-over on my Mugen ecu
sux for my 5 hour commute home from school

S1 tranny ownz joo... The j1 rocks too...
I love the RPMs...
my brother has the S1 in his car, and I just love the way it revs. I'm also putting an S1 tranny in my Civic.. Can't wait!

and all my freinds wonder why i get soo many tickets,
i save gas by doing 95mph instead of 80. i tried to tell that to the cop he didnt find it humerous.

Thats where I got my synchros and a couple of gears.

Those high RPMs are nothing for a B16A. The B16A was made to run those kinds of revs. I have put about 50000 miles on my B16A, many of them freeway. And it runs as good as ever. Compression is still VERY good. And oil consumption is practically zero. I pretty much always get 32+MPG on the freeway. The only time I would worry about running those kinds of RPMs is if I was using an S1/J1 on an engine that was not made for long term use at those kinds of RPMs (like a B18A or B20). But with a B16A, you are fine. In fact, you really would not want it any other way. With its small displacement, the B16A would be rather sluggish on the freeway with a taller fifth gear.
But you have a YS1, so you can put US gears in it. You cant put US gears or Sycros in a JDM tranny.
Here was a post on JDM synchros awhile back...https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=204245
Heres the deal with my tranny. I used 3 different trannys to rebuild it. It was origionally a Y1 4.266 finall drive. I used the 4.400 and shaft out of a USDM S1 tranny. The gears were replaced with a JDM S1 set out of a tranny with a blown diff. and used the 5th gear off the same USDM tranny which had stripped 1-3 gears. When i rebuild it I pulled all the syncros out and placed them in a pile. and just picked the best ones for the gears. ( JDM S1 had a trashed 4th gear syncro ) Now to the post about not being able to use USDM syncros. I had all of them in a pile from 3 different trannys. 1 JDM S1, 1 USDM S1, and 1 JDM Y1. I could not tell the difference between them. So either i got real lucky. or they are all the same.
If anyone is interested. I have a total of 6 blown trannys and can rebuild yours for you. I work for small amounts of cash or cartons of camel lights. Box preferred. I also buy blown trannys if any of you have any.
