Default New Car Decision, I NEED HELP!

Here is the story. Friday I am picking up a 93 Civic CX hatch. the paint is red and is very good. It only has 127k miles on it, and probably has a few engine problems that are easily fixed. However, my father owns a Saturn V6 4 Door I think it's called the LS2 or something like that. It's the 4-door top of the line Saturn (that sounds funny). He offered to GIVE me the Saturn in the spring if I didn't get the Hatch. or give me $3000 for the car at a later date. Which one would you take?!?!?! I am going insane over here trying to figure this stuff out and just wanted to see what H-Tech has to say! thanks for the input!

CX's aren't that easy to find.

I'm confused. Not get the hb but get the saturn and 3k? Or, get the Saturn. Or get the hb? But in the end, you'll spend that 3g's on a cx anyway right?

I am getting a CX this Friday and if I keep it my i get 3k in the Spring. If I get rid of it all I get is the Saturn.

I know CX's are hard to find, especially for the price I'm getting mine that's why I'm freakin out over here!!! hahaha

Don't get me wrong though the Saturn is a NICE car with V6 Leather, CD Player, Seat Heaters, fully loaded.

So let me get this straight...you are confused as to whether or not you should either take a free slow, stock, POS Saturn, or get the ligthest EG hatchback available, for a cheap price, and $3000 which you can use on a motor swap? Geez...I think I'll take the Saturn....

You didn't give enough details on the Saturn. I would choose the Saturn. A 93 Civic is 10 years old, and 127K on the clock. You already said the Civic have some engine problems. Is it time for another brake job? How about another time belt? These are maintance, not problems. How much more can the Civic go? You are paying for the Civic, right?

The Saturn would be about 3 years old, at most I think. DOHC 24V V6 loaded, and 180hp? Did he bought it new? Know the car's history? If it's not a lemond, keep it. It's got a lot more life left, and you'll be riding in comfort. And it's free.

If you don't like the "GM brand," it's really an European Opel. Do you feel better about it now?

P.S. You are 18 years old. One day, you be getting a better car. When you do, the old Saturn will be your beater car, where you trash around and log in the miles.

Who know, maybe you can use it as a trade in later. A 4DR loaded auto sedan is the most popular in the used car market.

The Saturn door is fiberglasss, GO AHEAD.... Ding my door!!!

Hahaha, true true. The only thing is is that I've wanted a Civic for a LONG time now and have saved up for 2 years for the sole purpose of this car I am going to get. My only worries are that
1) All the effort that I have put forth to better myself with Honda's will be lost
2) As an 18 yr. old I don't really think that I should be driving such a nice car.

Also, I've always wanted a car that I can tinker with... my current car is a 93 Buick LeSabre and you can't really play too much with that. I don't know though. Thanks for the other point of view on this one, you make very valid points. This is why I posted so I could see what other's honestly thought! Thank you very much.

Now I know your story, and I hope I don't make it more difficult.

Get the Civic, and get it out of your system. You been dreaming, wishing about your "future car." You are 18, a fixed up ride is more you, not a family sedan.

BTW. I'm 34 years old. Even thou I'm still Going Low, you know my perspective.

Good luck.

Can you wait for the Saturn till the spring and then sell it?? Then you'll probably have 10k to play around with....

If not, I'd say just get the CX and 3k.

the answer is quite apparent. keep the hatch and get $3k in Spring. that's a great deal...and you can have your favorit motor swap.

my first car was a Acura legend (TL in the u.s.a. i think) it was absolutly loaded with everything...sr/pw/pm/leather etc...then i sold it for my hatch...let me tell you sumting if you go from a luxury car to a civic you might not enjoy it as much because you'll be use to high confort levels etc...trust me and start with the hatch and then move on to sumting classy lata on...you'll feel more confortable in the hatch if you start with it...

There is no better feeling than having a dream come true, other than having your dream come true and $3 Grand on top of that!!!!

Go for the hatch, mess with it, get over it, and sell it. Thats my plan with my ek
