? anyone heard anything...i want to start modding (seriously) my ITR but if the DC5-R is coming i want to save up a phat down payment. Any word?

 

There are quite a few topics on this, just do a quick search and you'll find out that everything said is just speculation and guessing, nothing more.

Heres the speculation: If they plan on releasing it, it will probably come out middle to late 2003 as a 2004 model according to http://www.edmunds.com.

 

Just get a lhd CTR from evolutionimports (or whatever they are called). It costs less that a DC5-R would and should perform damn well.

There was an article in scc, an a few other mag.'s (kinda like an advertisement) hinting that the dc5r isn't coming here however you can purchase an optional package, similar to the action package for the celica, but you get more than just a body kit you get " new track-tuned shocks and springs, slotted brake rotors, 17x7.5in. wheels, yokohama 225/45vr17 tires....metallic-look interior trim an Factory Performance shift ****..." all this for $4,800 american dollars, this also includes installation fees.

I work for acura and I haven't heard anything about it.
Our acura rep is into cars and imports too and said the RSX action package is comming to "test the waters" for the DC5-R.

 

The sad thing is that the "action package" is way over priced and no one in their right mind would buy a RSX-S w/ action package at that price. For that much money, you can get a fully loaded and STi optioned out WRX.

 

Yeah, at 30K, it will gets a lot of buyers ............

 

I hear this action package, comes with a Jackson racing supercharger, and a set of 17' wheels, one of the acura reps, was telling me about it along with the springs, interior, and body kit as well, for close to 5g's.

much as many people want to see dc5-R on US land, including myself...i dont think it will come here. maybe in like 3-5 years later.

 

The "Action Package" is not worth it IMO. If you plan to mod your car in the furture then this route would be something you may want to stay away from. The package includes a body kit, real Type R wing, track tuned suspension, 17 inch rims, chrome shift ****, aluminum trim, and better brakes. The price for this package is 4,500 dollars and this does not include installation. Some may like this but I would rather take the 45oo and upgrade in a better way ie. brembo's, intake, exhaust, header, tein suspension and a few other mods. I don't see the point in bodykit and all, but different taste for different styles I guess.

As for the integra type R (RSX) coming to America it may be a while. There are rumors about it coming out in 2oo3 but I doubt this will happen. If any chance we may see the R in 2oo5, maybe end of 2oo4. So if it does come out I will surely have one in Championship white..::drools:: Well good luck guys.

yeah i really think that action package is a joke b/c the whole tuner scene is suppose to be just that [aftermarket] tuning (non-OEM). "You bought it like that" seems to come out of a lot of people's mouths (including me) when i see a celica with the "action package"

Anyways...I wish the DC5R would come b/c it would blow my DC2R out of the water and retail would be around 26k and 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty sounds really good right about now.

 

OT: Anyone know what the new CTR does in the 1/4 ? My $$$ is on really high 14's........

 

I don't think the DC5-R will make it here. RSX Type-R decals on the side? Just sounds weird. But that's not the only reason why I don't think we'll get it.
