RIP '00 #1209. :(..... OR..... Death = 0, ken r0cker =1

I haven't been on much in the past week. Now you all get to know why:
12/1/2002 I drove up to NC to pick up some 15x7 te37's from Willard, courtesy of RStoR. Thanks again guys.

12/2/2002 (this past monday), I got off work at 8pm and came home to eat and then went out to put the wheels on my itr @~10pm. 11:45pm rolls around after I've installed the wheels and checked tire pressures: 28psi on the fronts and 20psi rears.
Very low! But I figure I'll get air while I'm out, and I finish up and go to pick up a friend who needs a ride home from work. I'm ~30 minutes late when I arrive, and it's roughly 11:55pm. I take this pic right before we start home.Looks good, right? Well it's chilly... low 30's, high 20's temperature... Brrrr!
5 minutes later (about 12:01am on 12/3/02), we've stopped at a stoplight and then less than another 2/10 of a mile down the road there's a mild left hand turn. I'm in the far left lane and have the car's rear wag to the right (I try to correct with countersteer), left - try to counter again, right again - counter does no good, and I push both pedals to stop the madness... while sliding 180 across 3 empty oncoming lanes, pop up a curb SIDEWAYS - RF and RR jump up the curb at the same time (damn, I just put these rims on and they're in MINT condition

) , OH **** OH **** OH ****, a ccw 360 through somebody's yard and keep going, hit a telephone pole in the driver's side front (airbags deploy), another ccw 180, and the car comes to a rest in the middle of a side street. We both walk out of the car, me feeling fine and my passenger feeling shook up a little more... An off duty cop comes up and a random pedestrian who both only saw us spinning... They call the police and the car get's towed, err... flatbedded away. An ambulance comes and they check out my passenger. I feel fine, so I don't get checked out (adrenaline pumping through me, and I'm in shock I guess). I take a couple pics cause I had kengs digi-cam in the car with me (camera's fine shane):The cop that was off duty was in a mustang bullit, and persuaded the cop who completed the accident report to only give me 3 tickets instead of 5:
- expired tag (yeah, I never paid for them)
- striking a fixed object (telephone pole looks better than my car)
- too fast for conditions (slap on the wrist, imho...)
So what do I want to say?
Well, I took individual pics of each rim. 3 of the 4 could be captioned with "OWNED" easily. I haven't really been up to posting or uploading lately - I got kinda sore that night and couldn't eat (was feeling nauseous from the adrenaline I guess) or sleep for two days (whole body got pretty sore). People who know me well can understand what I've been going through. It's hard to explain when you've put so much of yourself into something (your car) and you **** it up for yourself.
I'm just depressed I guess. Chris (RStoR) and Willard, please don't feel bad for me. I was stupid for driving like anything but grandma before putting those tires to their proper pressures.
on me. What lesson have I learned?
20psi in the rears is WORSE than 40psi in them - ESPECIALLY at freezing temperatures!
on me. Dumbass driver (aka ME) even heated the front tires up real good, while the rears stayed cold - so this was an accident waiting to happen.we-todd-did driver (aka YOURS TRULY) behind the wheel can get an understeering pig like the integra to do donuts quite easily. 2 seasons of autox + a day at little talladega won't save you in this situation mr. r0cker. Period. I dunno if any driver could've saved the car after I put it in that position. Let alone my stupid ***...

I went back the next day and paced out the distances: 19 yards worth of skidmarks on the road to the curb. 63 yards of torn up grass to the telephone pole and final resting place.

Myself and my passenger are lucky to be alive. Let alone able to walk out of that wreck without a scratch. I certainly didn't deserve to make it out...
The cops looked at the car and at me, then asked me if I believed in God. I said "huh?" And they said, "well, if you didn't before, you do now!"
God + luck = **** you mr. grim reaper! Anything could've happened to either or both of us. Dead, paralized, hitting any number of cars in the oncoming lane, etc... I can't help but play it back over and over... Sooooooo lucky!
I added up the msrp on all my mods, and I have over $13k in it on top of the price of the car.
Honestly, I always felt like I was gonna die in that car. I even named her Christine when I first got her... You can't really tell from the night pics, but the teltale wrinkles in the floorboards and roof make me think it'll be totalled. The hytech header is prolly fucked too... I couldn't even see under the front of the car to tell, but I expect the worst. Hopefully the engine and tranny are still in good condition.
-the r0cker, whose guardian angels have been working overtime this past week.
I also want to encourage everyone to drive safe: remember my incident!
PS: Anybody got an itr shell for sale? FBP preferred!
PPS: I will go into the car impound and insurance nightmare in another thread sometime later.....
PPPS: Please, nobody send me IM's or emails about anything on the car. Nothing is for sale until further notice. Period.

Yeah, I know how you feel. Well, maybe not QUITE as bad, as I only paid $1350 for my 87 accord before plowing into a mailbox after having it for two weeks, and even though some Camry went into my lane,it still sucks to know that it could have been prevented if I hadn't been going too fast.
Ken: That totally sucks man. Really really sorry to hear. But, you and your friend made it out fine, which is all that's really important.
Holy ****, I cant believe I am reading this!! Glad you are ok Ken, that is the most important thing. Good luck with everything...sheesh man, that had to be some scary shiet.
Ken, so sorry that it happened to you too! I totally understand but, would never wish anyone to go through the same. Glad you, your passenger and anyone else on the road is safe.
Cars can be replaced...
Good luck and be safe,
A.
