Default Adjust your tint % with the turn of a ****?

Do you remember a couple years ago, there was a new kind of window for houses that are normally transparent(as always) but when you flip a switch they instantly turn frosted?!

Has this technology moved into the automotive realm yet? And can it be used for tinting as well as frosting? I would put a dimmer switch on it so I could make the windows opaque on a hot summer day in the parking lot.

There are several cars with it on, at least I read about it in popular mechanics. It is a liquid crystal in the windows controlled by a switch.
