i was driving last night when all of a sudden my speedo needle drops to 0 and my throttle doesnt respond. then it jumps back up to regular speed. then it drops again, i hard rumbling noise, and then i see orange sparks flying out of the rear. i had enough momentum to pull over to the side and sit. car wont start. i sit for a while waiting for the tow truck and then my radio dims and dies.
problem is?:

ignitor (replaced with crappy autozone one over the summer)
coil (replaced with crappy autozone one 8 months ago)
cap (replaced)
rotor (still old)
whole distributor
alternator (original on b16 motor)
battery (diehard, dont know age)

any help would greatly be appreciated

 

What year car ? trim level ?

You said the sppedo dropped to zero ?
Is your speedo cable or electronic ?

Shoulds like you may have a electrical problem
Test battery if low jump start or swap battery for a good one
Check charging system

i think its ignition/distributor/charging related

 

check your alternator. The wire that you have to bolt on might have gotten loose or something.

 

Same thing happened to me to me on my way to a doctor appt. in my crx. Atleast everything except the sparks, but it kept bogging down. Let me know .... i think its my distributer, and i havent even checked to read the code yet so im not sure.
It wont restart either so i think my rotor may be fried
