you must mean turning OFF the car and wait or idleing and waiting.

I don't think it will do anything bad if you let it idle for a couple of min....Hours might do some damage.

 

are you really that broke that you can't afford to leave your car on for 10 minutes while waiting for a buddy...?

Stats show that turning off and on is better on gas and environment. Truck drivers leave engine on because its diesel.

I dunno about that. When we had the smog patrol down here, they always made us leave the car on while we were waiting. When you start your car, you end up shooting out a lot of un-burned gasoline. Not to mention it's more wear and tear on your engine to turn it off and restart it. I'm not sure about saving gas, but if it's only for a few minutes, leaving it on is definitely better.

See, what I do is..I turn the car on, then I let it idle for a second or 2, then I drive off. Then, later when I notice the gauge is almost at the "E" mark..I stop at a gas station and put more gas in the tank. In fact, it is for this very reason I purchased my vehicle.

I let me car idle for 2 hours! reved the engine every now and then. Just so the paint would harden on the valve cover that I painted....So 10 mins idle wont hurt.
