Is the block the same on all B16's whether they are jdm, usdm, first or second gen?

 

The emissions equipment are the differences between the JDM and the USDM blocks. The first and second have the same deck height that is shorter than the rest of the B-series. The third gen. or type-R have the same deck height as the rest of the B-series. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but that is all I can remember about the differences.

 

I was just wondering because if my block is damaged on my second gen jdm b16, i want to know what I can do, either replace it or ls/vtec or crvtec. Is there alot of work needed to do ls/vtec or crvtec? Oh yeah, I am running boost also, I think that is how my engine got toasted.

 

The B16B block is the same as the GSR/ITR... which also has the same deck height as B18A/B, B20B/Z.....Peace

 

So I can just swap the gsr or itr block with no mods?

 

Yea... if you are gonna run light boost i would just go with the GSR block.. There is no reason to get the ITR it's just go higher compression... If you build the motor then you can boost more... Latez

 

The B16b is actually the fourth generation of B16.
