88 si tranny, what flywheel..
i know this has been asnswered 1000 times, but i couldnt find it in a search, what flywheel do i use with an 88 si tranny, 88 i am guessing, but can I use a 90, and just an 88 clutch, or will it not work, and only work with an 88?
I am wondering cause i used a 95 ex flywheel on a 90 si tranny once and it worked so.. i am guessing all d sereis flywheels are the same no matter what year the difference is just the clutch...

88 flywheel only, 88 trannys use a smaller clutch disc along with a different spline on the imput shaft.. If you go with another flywheel have to use a different cluch disc and wont work...
you can use a 92 up flywheel and pressure plate and a 88 accord clutch disk. works perfect. have it in my wagon cause all I could find was an 88 awd trans.
Thats a new one on me. So you have a 88 tranny with a 88 Akkord cluch disc on a 90-00 Flywheel, on a 94 Z6. Well That is tha **** because I just checked on ACT and the 88 Akkord uses a 212 MM clutch disk and also check a old 87 Akkord tranny and its 21 Spline. That is the coolest thing I've heard all day. Use a 90-00 Pressure plate or did you use the Akkord pressure plate??

I run an 88 tranny in my 91 SI. I run the 91 flywheel (212mm) and use the "88 Upgrade" disk from ACT. This disk has the size of the 90-91 but the center hub splines fit an 88 input shaft. DON'T use an 88 clutch, its only 190mm
uh no, you can use only the 88 civic cluth disc/pressure plate with the 88 flywheel, you can get a upgrade like ACT sells or try the 88 accord (is that better) idea and that would work with the 90-00 flywheel. 88 clutch disk itself is a different input shaft 21 spline and smaller disc/pressure plate.
never accually messed with the 88 tranny but willing to bet if the clutch disc is smaller and the fly wheel is smaller, have to use a smaller pressure plate. In this case 88 clutch, 88 flywheel and 88 pressure plate.....
if your going to race it i would deff use the 92 flywheel and pressure plate with the 88 accord disk i know the 92 flywheel is deff ALOT bigger than the 88 and a good bit bigger than the 90-91 if you are modifieing your car it is deffinately a major improvement over the 88 stuff good luck
the 88 si clutch disk won't even catch as much in a 89 up flywheel as it does with the stock 88 flywheel. gotta use the 88 accord disk with 90 up flywheel and pressure plate.
