RE: Jody McGovern's Mother has something that she would like to share with all of H-T.
Hey all,
It's been a while since I have been on here, with getting married
, losing a job
, and getting a house
. But I wanted to share something with you all. This letter came to me from Jody's mother...hopefully you all remember. I really hope that this all touches you the same way it did me, she obviously took a lot of time to read through all of your comments, and it seems as though she left nothing out. Below you will be able to read her comments...to all of you...

Dear honda-techies:
I have asked Brandon to send this e-mail to the site for my husband and me. We can’t begin to tell you the comfort Jody’s friends have been to us since August. Even though he hadn’t met most of you in person, he considered your group special friends. As you know, cars were his reason for being.
I was recently able to read the e-mails you sent shortly after his death. His Dad hasn’t been able to read them yet. The flowers you sent were beautiful as was the donation to Make-A-Wish in Jody’s name. I have been involved with Make-A-Wish for several years and Jody helped the foundation with fund-raising through a haunted house we do each October (he could wield a mean chainsaw!).
I also want you to know that speed, drugs or alcohol played no role in the accident that took his life. At this point, we aren’t really sure what happened. I have no need to know since nothing is going to bring him back to me, but his Dad feels a need to blame something.
On the good news side, his girlfriend Stephanie is doing well. She spent several weeks in the hospital, then in a rehabilitation center and now does outpatient rehab three times a week. The doctors feel she will suffer no permanent injury for which we all thank God. It would have broken Jody’s heart to know that he hurt her.
Now for the “Mom” lecture – I am sure most of your friends and parents have at one time or another told you to be careful out there. Even though we were supremely confident in Jody’s driving skills, we always told him that. About a year ago, I told him I couldn’t control his driving but he would break my heart if anything happened to him. I can still see him laughing, telling me – not me, Mom, I’m too good a driver. I know you all think the same thing – not me, Mom – but you can see that it does happen.
Look for some interesting news to come about an event we plan to celebrate Jody’s life. Again, thanks for your support. If you want to contact us, you can do so at EileenMcGovern@stargate.net.

I got a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart.
I can't believe reading something from a complete stranger on the internet could do that to me.

I didn't know Jody, but anytime something like this happens it's devestating regardless of circumstance.. Brandon, give my regards to the family and his girlfriend..
Letters like this should remind us all of the true reality we live in. Money, politics, and personal gain aside, in the end only a few things really matter. Love, family, and friends.
sigh...........
to all the mothers out there. They are annoying for a reason --- care and love.

thank you for the letter, mrs. mcgovern.
i dont even have the words to say what i want to say. so ill just say that im glad to take part in this post.
Every kid with a fast car should read and comprehend that letter. "Not me" is the dumbest thing any young driver (or old driver for that matter) could think.
Let's be safe out there so we don't have anymore brokenhearted parents.
