Interesting. I don't like the China idea. They are only doing that cause it's cheap labor.
I've ridden in several of the 3.0l V6 Accords that are built in Guangzhou, China and honestly, cannot tell them apart from the ones sold here.
Globalization? Not even close, lookt at GM's seizure of other car companies and Ford/VW already had plants in China way before Honda does.
Oh yeah...and stop having the image of China as a backward country. While everywhere's economy sinks, China is on a steady rise. Most inner city highways now are built with latest technology with 3-4 lanes.
My dad in China already owns 3 Accords (made in China) for company usage.
Same damn quality because all the plants are monitor by Japanese technicians.
I hate when movies show anything related to China is all about communist or people wearing traditional clothing, it seems like the western society simply don't want to show the modern parts of China. For example, in Rush Hour, they picked the slumps of Hong Kong and everyone in it wears clothing that my grandpa use to wear back in the 1950's.

Does Honda need something aimed at younger buyers, like what Toyota is doing with Scion?
That could be.
You already have one product aimed at younger buyers, the Element. Do you need more?
Maybe so.
lol

True, Honda hasn't made as many plants and been as global as other car makers.
They were the first Japanese company to do so in the United States as well, and unlike most such foreign ventures (such as the VW plant in Pennsylvania, now closed, which preceded Honda), they were the first to build engines and transmissions and continue to be the leader among foreign automakers in local content, in the United States as well as many other countries.
