Default OT: Mazda USA to release "R" version of Miata...

12/05/02 Mazda Fuel (internal publication) vol.1 issue 2 page 4.

"Designed to appeal to club racing enthusiasts, the new sport suspension package includes Mazda'a 1.8 liter I-4 DOHC VVT engine with 5 speed manual transmission, limited-slip differential, Bilstein shocks, 16 inch wheels and cloth seats. Standard is the detachable hardtop, and available exterior colors will be Classic Red or Pure White.

What you won't find on this track-ready roadster are racing non-essentials, such as power steering, an audio system, power antenna, air conditioning, and a wind deflector."

M.S.R.P. is $20,480 and only 25 copies will be made in each color for the '03 model year.

Yeah, but 25 copies of each color? Those things will have a $10K markup!

Man thats sounds a little lame..........want me to tell you why??

In Australia Mazda Australia sells from the factory brand new what hey call the mazda MX5 SP which is a Miata with a factory fitted turbo kit and they are frighteningly fast with factory warranty etc.................

They had no choice, it didn`t sell and was a service nightmare. The last year they only sold a handful of TT`s.

25 copies? Geez.

It'll be easier to get a base Miata with the Suspension Package.

But still, a big for Mazda for bringing out cars for enthusiasts. Someone go tell Honda to start doing the same.

I just wanted to see if you would say "so?" again

Also, Honda can afford to lose a few bucks, Mazda couldn`t at that point in time and still can`t.

Quit whining and go buy one!
There are plenty around, still only on their second or third motor.

My friend will be putting his third motor in shortly (second kid on the way and he doesn't mind adding antifreeze).

Actually, it's not a "R" version Miata, but rather a "Club Sport" version.

Depending on how the RX-8 does, the RX-7 may come back...at least there are some published whispers about that.

hehe ... if you really want one, find one!

There were only 50 Zanadri NSX's.
One of these days I may be able to track one of those down as well.
