Default Teg vs Crx fuel sending unit...

Well, since I bought a JDM cluster and a Teg(90-93) fuel sending unit,I wanted to know, beside the added wire for the Low fuel light,if the sender will,is the same as the CRX-Civic one?

Since I wanted to have all my light working in my cluster(Well, forget that catalyst light... )

Any idea?

If someone know's the answer before I remove mine....in Spring

Its not i tryed. Need to remove the wire off the teg and connect to crx just make sure you use the sending unit for whatever gas tank your using. IM me if you need help. Ive installed 4 JDM clusters now.

I bought the teg fuel sending unit too but havent installed it yet. Problem 1, the plugs are different and I havent checked my book yet on how to rewire. I dont think its that big a deal though because there are 3 wires and I assume one for each, ground, lead and power...Problem 2, I read on a thread a while back that the teg fuel sender is not a straight swap, meaning the round cap is bigger than stock. I dont want to mess with it yet because I know once I take it off I need to finish the job the same day and I dont want to keep it half way done. In fact, I'm thinking of just returning the fuel sender back to the dealer and take a loss of 10% restocking fee and keep the rest. I paid close to $80 bux on those puppies...

Well, the wiring is not scaring me at all....

In the Helm's there are giving some distance for the sending unit.Looking fast,it seems to correspond with the one for the 'Teg....but since you are saying that the diameter is different,I think I'm gonna give up....

As for using the sensor....I'm concerning about running that wire out from the sending unit....

I'll look deeper this weekend.

Thanks for your help!

I've tried it and yes the teg one is about a inch in diameter bigger, Also what sucks is that the plugs are different no biggie. So what i tried is using an eg fuel sender and take the low gas sensor off of the teg and wire it up but what you have to do is bend the eg one so it will read correctly, which i got to work but then the low gas light sensor broke. These are really sensitive i've broken 3. Then i went and got an 89 accord one and i got that to work but since it had a bigger tank it would only read empty properly and never read all the way full. Same thing with an 94+ integra. Those will fit too but have bigger tanks and won't read properly. Another solution which i have heard will work but not sure is just swap over the complete da teg gas tank.

Also remember to run the wire form the dash low gas light all the way to the back.

Ayanami how have you done it. I know there has to be a better solution!!

Has anyone tried just wiring the stock fuel sender lead to the jdm cluster? Or maybe the best bet is to actually get an SiR fuel sending unit...but I wonder if the gas tanks are the same w/ usdm ones...

* Too much trouble just for getting that freakin light to go off, haha...Maybe just fill up the tank as soon as it hits half tank...

Yup...so much trouble for one little light

I won't go thru much assle....but I would like to do it right...even if I don't really need that light...

I found out pretty cool to have feedback from each of you.I did a search but the only thing coming on was wiring and some question about VSS...

I know, this thing won't make our car faster....but at least this ain't bling parts...

There are several people on the site in Japan ( Type R forum ) that would be willing to order new parts from honda of japan for the right price. Second I belive the the Sir tank if the same as the USDM Si tank.
Second You can just hook up the stock fuel sending unit to the Sir cluster and have it work fine. Just make sure you use the sending unit for the gas tank that you have.
Here are a couple links that will help you all;
http://students.washington.edu/krist...dm/lfi/LFI.htm ( low gas light on EG6 still the same as EF8. )
http://students.washington.edu/kristic/sircluster.html ( Sir cluster install EF8 )
http://students.washington.edu/krist...rs/mirrors.htm ( Folding mirror install for EG6. Very simular to EF folding mirrors. )

Hope this help all. Sorry if i did reply to your IM.

M

yeah you can use the stock unit to work the gauge but that's it. It's impossible to get the stock usdm one to work the light!! it's missing a sensor!!
