Default about to install skunk2 stage 2 need help?

im planning on doing it by the end of this week at this shop in fremont and the mechanic said he can install them for me without taking off the head within 5 or 6 hours but he told me i didnt need to change my headgasket or my head studs is this true because most people ive talked to told me stage 2 only runs good with higher compression so wouldnt i need to change my headgasket and if i do change my headgasket shouldnt i get new head studs?

You don't have to take off the head to install cams! ! ! And it doesn't take 5-6 hrs. to do it also........

Changing the headgasket won't increase the compression that much.

If you have a stock R motor, go with the Stage1's. You will be happier.

Nothing wrong with the Stage2's for a "fully built motor"-I run them. But a stock Type-R does not have the compression and various other things that are required to make these cams work. For a stock R I would recommend Stage1's or Toda "A"s.

What shop in Fremont? You should just hit up Jeff652 on this board. He can do it within an hour or so with a valve adjustment and timing. Great guy, plus he's in San Jose as well.

Maybe they are planning on doing valvetrain and cams along with a 2 layer head gasket to get more compression.
