yup thats the way thigns are going now.. look at all the big name sponsors coming on.. quakerstate castrol gm saturn its getting very very competitive. and i will always pull for the underdog guys like mike,hp racing guys smaller sponsors....
but isn't this a good thing? more big name sponsors are a good thing regardless of them being domestic or not. More sponsor = more money, more attention, more respect for sport compact racing. Just my 2cents.

It's all good that we are haveing more car's involved in the races but I see it as honda just isn't holding it's own as much as they used too. Don't think I am giving up on honda I'm honda for life but if all the work that I have done to my car has been taken crashed or something I am going with some with more power and torque from factory for the money.

it would turn into a top fuel/funny car sport... good luck being a nobody and building one of those
you make a good point about us poor folk being able to compete if it turns into that. Import racing is still in its infancy and the more big names that get involved the easiers its gonna be for the small guys to get the big sponsors. Everyone that has a big sponsor now started at the bottom.
That's another good point it's hard for the people like some of us who work hard for the money to get the next best thing to help us at the track. No sponser No unlimited credit card. But do the right thing and you are up against them before you know it, if they brake you win but that's a gamble
Im happy for Lisa shes getting paid money to do what she enjoys , but I understand where everyone stands on the poor guy racers , hehe IM ONE OF THEM
but you have to start somewhere JOHN FORCE for example he started in the industry when its already in its full blown stages and just worked his way up. hey you got a slow car but your maxing your potiential than hey thats good . Just go out and try winning in your class as much as you can , even if you dont hey if your consistant in your car and dont win someone will notice that and pick you up-GOODLUCK to everyone this up coming season-pdang

I'm glad the NHRA created a Sport FWD and Sport RWD Class for their 2003 Import season. It will give "Street Legal" cars a place to show what they have and provide good competition.
Im all about kicking some major sponsored cars asses next season. I dont care who they are or how much money they have. Just makes it more fun to me. It just makes us little guys have to think that much harder to go fast which to me is what its all about. Its nice to have money, but it would make it no more fun for me. I just like racing.
I don't understand all the extreme Honda loyalty. I see Honda doing very little to support the racers who have supported Honda for so long. I don't see a single "big" honda team. Like GM or Mopar or even Mazda. If Kubo makes the switch I say more pwer to her hopefully Honda will wake up and realize it should do more to support the other teams.
For some reason, a HONDA sponsored Quick class team doesnt sound right?
I mean, who would they pick? there is so many qualified HONDA racers out there that it wouldnt be fair to have to pick one to represent the HONDA camp.
I say never to a HONDA team until this industry just is totally Dominated by Manuf. backed racers. It should just be HONDA cars sponsored by aftermarket companies and non-industry companies such as MBNA. Thats an interersting direction that I'd be willing to see.
Well anyways. LISA and Gary
Wil Exospeed Racing

Lisa changing from Honda to saturn only brings out more competition. Im glad to see more companies and manufacturers willing to spend money on the import scene. It just goes to show where we have come from and were we are going.
As far as it being to expensive or out of reach for some racers consider this, you need to start somewhere and starting in a pro class isnt something everyone can do. As the classes evolve the quick class is going to more and likely be the class for the privateers and the pro class to be the class for manufactures to show there money. I say let it evolve. It comes down to $$$$$ signs and I say "show me the money".

i don't see all of this as a big deal - GM cars NEED big sponsorship to run, since that ecotec motor is truly a sack of sh--. notice how they start out by trashing the WHOLE stock unit...
how often do you see a stock block, stock heads and crank GM, or Ford for that matter do anything with real people bucks?
i am not really dissing them, just pointing out that joe blow will get smote trying to run an ecotec or ford...have you seen the add where the world's fastest NA focus has run a whole 13.7????

If I remember right there was a guy a while ago running a all-motor Escort ZX2 that ran like low 11's with little or no factory support. I can't think of the guys name right now but that is the same motor as the Focus so I am sure there is some potenital there. Speaking of small names how often do you see Nissan's or Mazda's or even 4cyl powered Toyota's isn't the 3SGTE supposed to be a killer motor?
hmm,. i'd like to see the reference and then see what the guy really has, because that motor has not been able to prove itself in any other form...
reminds me that there was recently discussion of the neon valvetrain and the shortcuts that chrysler took on that - it does not withstand high r's at all.........
