I am sick of the **** talkers in Erick's post. I know methanol will help but what other things are going to change to make these cars faster? Sequential shifting transmissions, F1 style paddle shifting??? There must be a lot of avenues but mostly it's up to sanctioning bodies and what they will allow. Maybe IDRC or NHRA will add an "open" class for all-motor. How fast will the cars be in 5-10 years?

 

I think in 5 years the field will be in the 9s. It will be a bunch of tube chassis, with aftermarket trannies, and probably different motors.

 

no doubt erick and a few others are on the door step, but id say if gm stepped in like they have in ther other classes, they will do it no problem. i have heard that saturn will have an all motor car next season.

 

For us. I think we need 25hp more to get us into the 9s. Or lose 100lbs and 15hp more. We will see first race Battle in Orlando, FL march 30

Yah nines are knocking on the door for the fast all motor cars...its just a matter of some hard to get HP.

as far as hondas go i think 2-3 cars will hit it this season...

yup, not a rumour I actually saw the saturn, they got a $300K budget from GM ... Chrysler is stepping in also with the Neon, but thats what I've heard havent seen anything, this is separate from Scott's car, BTW.

yeah, will be interesting season next year, many new cars coming out and a whole lot of displacement. I'm just as excited as the next guy with my racecar.

IMHO the K-series motors are going to change things once people start really getting into them. Look at the flow #'s on the Alaniz website -- bone stock K20A2 head flows signifigantly better than a fully race ported B16A head. 176cfm vs. 167cfm at peak lift. Plus the K-series engine/tranny is even lighter than a 1.8L B-series. (75lbs I think).

 

That's great, how does the K20A2 head compare to the GSR head?

 

The B16A head flows marginally better than a GS-R head (ported or otherwise).

 

I think there may be a lot to be gained in the suspension of the cars, but i could be wrong. its hard to tell what they are doing in that area since no one asks them or snaps photos of it.

I know I could make a 9 second all motor car, but unfortunately, I do not have like 50-70k to make it happen.

Jarod Silvers car is surely a 9 second car if and when it runs.

He could run 9's with only like 250 WHP.

You could also run 9's in OUTLAW CLASS. Easily. The weight limit is like 1200 or something for all motor...

Probably 7 cars right now with motors that could hit 9's at 1200 lbs.

In other words.

Money buys your 9 second car. No problem. You can have 1 of probaby 10-20 engine builders in the USA ALONE that could build a 9 second motor, with a Tube Chassis car.

Tube chassis, light weight,methanol,and gearing will put the top cars in the 9's. GTP's drag crx makes 260+ to the wheels and we run 10.8@127. we don't have wheelie bars which when added will lower et and give away mph
