Default AEM fuel rail questions

I just bought a used AEM fuel rail and regulator. I am going to be installing it on an LS turbo motor. I just have a few questions. Do I need any type of gasket or does it just basically bolt on?
Also to adjust the fuel pressure. I am assuming I have my car running and first before I take my stock rail off and see how much pressure I have?
Then when I put the new rail on do I start the car see where the pressure is and then adjust it? Or does the car have to be revved up?
This is my first time ever installing a fuel rail so please no flames. If any one has a link to instructions or stuff to be careful when doing this that would be great.
Thank you

Thanks for the link. A few more questions. Should I replace the O rings on the injectors when I change the fuel rail or is that not necessary. And also how do I adjust the fuel pressure. Does it stay the same whether it is at idle or at full throttle? Thanks

I would suggest changing the orings and be very careful not to pinch them. Use a little oil to hold them in place. Another good site is http://www.aempower.com join the forums there and you can go to forums specifically for the Fuel systems and see what other people are doing or ask an AEM tech a question. Not as fast of responses as H-T, but they will send you instructions, etc. And for fuel pressure, you measure it with the vacuum line disconnected and plugged.

Do you need instructions on how to adjust it, or a recommended pressure?

I know you need to turn the screw to adjust it. But my question is, the fuel pressure a constant pressure. OR does it change when the car is at idle Vs when it is at full throttle? I have a gauge so I can see what the pressure is set at but is there a correct way to adjust it? I read some posts that say a line needs to be disconnected and capped off? I just do not want to adjust it wrong lean out the car and blow something. TIA

OK. The FPR works by limiting the fuel going back to the tank. There is a vacuum line attached to it that goes to the IM. Under load and acceleration, the vacuum builds in the IM, this greater vacuum closes the return in the FPR making the pressure higher. So yes, you need to adjust the FPR with the vacuum line disconnected and plugged(otherwise you just caused a vacuum leak) at idle so you are adjusting the base fuel pressure. Does that help? Any other ?s just ask.

Went to the dealer to get the o-rings and then they also said there are rubber bushings to be replaced on the injectors. Does anyone know if they need to be replaced also or just the o-rings.

If they aren't much $ I would get them, just so you avoid the likelihood of leaks, but if money is an issue, just do the install, see how they look, and check for leaks when you're done..

Those bushings are really thick, I actually had to use a dremmel to bore mine to fit my DSM 450's, after all that abuse I reused em and still no leaks I've heard the dealer charges like $45 for the set. Point is, unless you see some major damage on them, you should be okay to reuse em. GL
