Its snowing here and the ITR is in storage but I though some of you would enjoy some photos from a Track event in Oct @ Gratton in Michigan. I'll try to explain in detail so the pictures make sense.
What you see in the first picture is the entrance to the straight-a-way. Just before the entrance is a blind uphill, a qwik right and then the left to set up for the straight. On the qwik right I apexed early and dipped both right tires off of the track into a nice mud puddle. (rained early in the a.m.) At 80+MPH I attempted to make the left onto the straight. DIDN'T happen. Car spun 180 and I put "both feet in" and went for the ride. Up the hill and hit the armco with a loud crunch. The car was redirected 90 degrees and the picture shows where I came to rest. WITH ALMOST NO DAMAGE???? Only had to remove the rear bumper and install new clips, zero paint or sheet metal damage
The armco had a Nice 12" thick padding on it. You can see where I can up the hill from the right backwards, hit the armco and was redirected 90 to end up facing the left side of the picture. (notice the padding half hanging there)
I recornerweighted the car and had it realigned just to be safe and was back at Gingerman the following weekend

That was really really lucky...wonder why most tracks choose to use tire walls or even worst, guardrails instead of those paddings.
or else, #1180 would still be alive today.

Wow, you one-upped Chad on that hill
You can spin the motor the other way by spinning your car? Are you serious?
Maybe I'm an idiot but I never heard of that before.

-Dave, who's motor only spins in one direction no matter what the car is doing

Yes, I was very lucky.
No motor damage at all "Both feet in" = one foot on the clutch, one foot on the brakes.

Yeah, this one time I spun my car and when the car turned 180 degrees I was doing negative 8k!

Or maybe it was only related to toilets flushing or something
