mugen K20A computer availabilty
Hey guys, need some help. I don't post here often, but I was wondering if anyone can help me. Just picked up a 2002 Sir (Si for you yanks). We are preparing this car for racing in january for the Grand-Am pro racing series. Unfortuantely development time is extremely limited and we need a Mugen ECU or equivalent in performance ASAP. I have contacted King Motorsports for availability, unfortunately they tell me minimum 3 weeks .... could this be? I got the feeling they didn't grasp the urgency in my voice, and does anyone have a direct japanese connection to pick one up for us? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, any opinions on the Spoon ECU?

I assume you guys are going to be swapping engines for k20a? Instead of using the mugen ecu have you ever thought of either A) using the new hondata ECU with the most recent k20a program or B) using the buddyclub computer piggyback system.
The Hondat program you could get in 2-3 days and the buddyclub you could order from several shops. I belive A&J Racing have this part. Give them a call at aj-racing.com
If you are stuck on the mugen ECU I believe it is available at some stores in Toronto.

Im under the impression taht the Hondata ECU is better tahn the Mugen one. If you need something ASAP, I would go to the clubrsx store and order the Hondata ECU through them. It'll take 3-4 days to have your ECU sent, reflashed, and sent back to you.
Umm...Neither Spoon or Mugen has an ECU for the K20A3 motor in the Si(R). Even Hondata doesn't have a program as far as I know. They have the program only for the K20A3 in the base RSX. The Si and the RSX have different intake manifolds...so I don't think that a base RSX proggy would work in a Si(R).
wow guys! truly great info, really apreciate it! We are aware of the Hondata and it certainly is a possibility, unfortuantely since most of the tuning we have done has been with the AEM and DTA systems, I don't think we could get the car running perfectly in time.
DC2&DC5, I shall get back to you by friday about ordering that ECU, thank you very much.

By the way where did you get a 2003 SiR??

hi Kuno, my name is Sam from BGI Racing, why would they think that? Why would it hurt your relation? I edited my post ,if for any reason I offended somebody I'm sorry.... Now back to the topic: Thanks to all for posting alternatives and different sources. I hope nobody calls me to give me $hit!!...lol
The Hondata computer is not user tuneable. Neither is the Mugen as far as we understand. You just plug them in. So there is no issue as far as getting them running in time.
