Default Extended warranty

My first impressions were the extended warranty, 50k-100k, Had to be purchased from acura, for the type R that's about $1600. After looking around a bit I found that the your extended warenty can be purchased from a number of company, it doesn't have to go though acura. Other companies are offering very competitive prices. I have not looks for long and have already found several warranty's that are $600 cheeper than the warranty offered by acura. This one is offered by a company called warranty wizard, It covers every thing that the extended factory warranty covers http://www.warrantywizard.com/popup_...plan_preferred . They warranty does have a $50-$100 deductible.

I was wondering what others have done in terms of extended warranty? What are your thought about going with an outside company for any extended warranty rather than acura? Any thoughts would help, I'm looking at 45k....

If you plan to stay that way it's a great idea.

When I bought my R I asked about getting a extened warranty and the dealer gave me the 7/75 for $900. with no ded. I thought that was a fair deal and took it. As for the outside companies- I just thought it would be safe to stick with the Acura offered.

I'm sure if you get all the paper work and read it over carefully you should be safe, just besure to look out for the catches/ snags.

I have allways (when purchased new cars) asked for the extended warranty, I'd rather pay now and feel safe then be sorry later when something could have been covered by a one time fee $900.

Personally, I think it's pointless for Hondas. Sure, one could purchase a lemon but not likely. I paid $400 for an ext. warranty for my GS-R (3 yr, 36k mile) but I NEVER used it. Great car.

Nice Thanks for the input. I will get the 100k extended warranty for sure. Still deciding on who to go with though. As Bbasso said, Its all about going with a reputable company.

My father-in-law in a regional sales rep for an extendend warranty company so I'm biased. I get my policies for cost. It's pretty disgusting to see how much dealerships mark them up in price.

They're a good investment if you are planning on staying stock because they are fairly easily voidable if you start to mod the car. I will always carry one if I purchase a used vehicle that I do not plan on modding in the future. It's a nice piece of mind.
