Interesting never knew this... had another question:

How come when upgrading to ITR/CTR camshafts, it is not needed to upgrade to ITR valvesprings also?

I would recommend upgrading to ITR valvesprings and LMA's when using ITR/CTR cams. Others may differ.

LMA = Lost Motion Assembly, right?

I've just never heard of the issue coming up so I assumed it wasn't relevant...

B19 you did 14.2 @ palmdale? Wow, that's awesome, I heard the palmdale (LACR) track sucks!

My friend has an EK Hatch with a B16 and he ran a 14.7 at the california speedway and at palmdale his best was 15.4 I believe? That track is 1000 FT higher than the one in Fontana, just curious.

I am sure that you could get away with using the GSR or B16 lost motion assemblies. Type-R lost motion assemblies are a little stiffer, and at higher rpm, they probably help. Honda felt they were necessary, and every little bit helps.
I ran 14.2's and 14.3's at Palmdale , and I am not entirely unhappy with those times, but they could be better. My motor is putting 200/140 to the wheels right now, but it should be getting more. I just bought some Bogarts and I will be getting some slicks soon, so that should put me into the 13's at Palmdale. More tuning on this motor should get me into the low 13's, and maybe even high 12's at a better track. We will see...

ITR outers alone cost about $160(US). Stiffer generic inner springs go for around $80.
Not sure how much stock inners go for.

It is an issue of Redline/RPM and valvefloat... It is not really about those cams having a lift above what a GSR/B16 setup can handle at the GSR/B16 redline.

If you are going to use ITR springs use ITR valves as well. I'm sure some of you tech heads know that the ITR valve are lighter than standard valve, such as the GSR and Civics....

Some interesting info... the standard honda... say civic valve springs are stiffer than an ITR spring... REMEMBER the ITR valve are lighter than the standard Honda valve....

comment to the peanut gallery:
Don't argue the point, pick up a "Building up your Honda" book and you will find out for yourself......

man, nice to have an ITR head altogether....
but adding ITR valves to a non-R head requires adding the 3 angle valve job.. now you are making the wallet a lot thinner.

itr valves cost 16 or so for intake and 32 for exhaust

i would find a itr head at that point

i made mistake and went the $$$ route of adding all that crap to my gsr head

i got portflow spring/retainers
rev ss valves
itr lma's
itr cams
valve job

just buy an itr head, especially ifyou want the intake manifold and throttle body
