Default H23A

i just have a few questions about an engine because i was looking at a prelude for sale and i was wondering about these things; does a jdm h23a have vtec, will the valve cover say vtec on it if it does, what color is the valve cover, what kinda hp does it pump out and is an h22 or h23 better?--thanks a bunch

If it says VTEC on the valvecover, then most likely it's VTEC. *Unless it was written on it with a crayon or something?*

Best way is to let us know the engine code. It's located by the timing window, near the starter.

Or else, look for the VTEC solenoid.

I believe if it's JUST H23a, with no numbers behind it...then it may well be a JDM H23a VTEC. Good find. Can you get a pic?

the h23a engine was put in the Si, 4WS, and some S models. it is non vtec. the h22a is the vtec model they released in the preludes. i know this as i am busy doing a swap from an h23a to a h22a engine and have done a lot of research on the subject.

H23 is non-vtec...

The JDM h23 vtec from the accord wagon is a completely different engine, and came with an auto tranny..highly unlikely you will just happen across one in a prelude.

And like the guy says, if the block says H23A1 it's a US engine, JDM would say H23A only, no 1

alright, thanks. its an h23a1. so its not as great as i thought it would be. after driving a vtec car, i dont think i would want to change to a non-vtec honda.

no vtec for h23a1.. anyway drive it if u hear a WAAAAAAAA around 5000 rpm u got vtec.. dont confuse it for the secondaries opening though. h23 has secondaries too. but to answer your queston its not vtec.

You're retarded. According to your sig you're almost as old as my dad. You're just pissed off because you drive some busted *** 3rd gen lude and can't get better than a 16.5 at the track. At least I figured out why you're MADlude, it's cause you drive a piece.

BTW, I wish you were closer because I would show you who sucks ****, you can suck MY ****, bitch!

4th gens are just as good as any other gen madlude. I don't know why you think that. I have a 4th gen h23 and just installed the fmax turbo kit. it flys. I think its also lighter than the 5th gens. I am not dissing any gen prelude, but you can't say that the 4th gen sucks.

Grow up man. You are one of the oldest ones on the board and you still sound like a 13 year old kid. Love the lude.. no matter what generation... don't hate on a certain generation just because you are jealous of us. If you don't have something nice to say... don't say anything at all you immature 35 year old jealous piece of ****
