How to remove Tint?
I have tint on my Integra that I want to remove. Whats a simple chemical I can buy at Home Depot or Lowes that will remove the residue.
I know using a 1000 grit steel does it for the back hatch.
Ideas, please chime in.

I redid my 96 Accord, it was a supreme bitch to do the back, I basically got an edge started, then use regular old Windex and spray it behind the tint, so it can loosen the glue, and peel it slowly, you will use alot of windex. You dont want to damage the defroster, on the sides, I just ripped it off, then spray windex and use a sharp blade to scrape off the glue. Mine came out great, jsut took some time. good luck.
You don't even need to use Windex... I've had a lot of trial and error experiance with window tint, so here are some tips for removal.
Tools needed:
- Razor replacements (the little rectangular ones, local hardware store should have em)
- Spray Bottle
- Soap (Preferably Baby Shampoo)
- Many towels
1) You should be able to remove the entire plastic film with no solution at all. The only thing is it will leave the adhesive on the window, and that's the stuff you really want to get off.
2) Get yourself a spray bottle, prefferably a good size one. Use a soap/water mix (I use Joy dish soap, Baby Shampoo is preferred tho), and mix it until it's not too watery or too soapy (just so its soapy when you spray it on the window, but not so water that it runs down immediately...it should move down slowly)
3) After you peel the plastic film off, you should find the stucky adhesive beneath. Spray down the window with your solution, and then take a razor blade and slowly scrape the adhesive off. The soapy solution is just there to make it easier to scrap off and to prevent any scratching of the window. You might want to lay some towels down along the bottom of the windows if you like to keep things clean and dry. If not, dont worry about it.
*On the rear window, be careful about your defroster lines. Take your time.
4) After you completely clear all the goo off the window, SPRAY IT DOWN AND GO OVER IT AGAIN. I can't emphisize this enough. It may look like you got everything, but you'll be annoyed when you roll down your windows and the little black fibers start sticking to the window.
Anyways, let me know how it goes and if you need any more tips. I also have tricks for putting tint on (except for the rear window), so let me know if you need any help.

well i just took my tint off last week and all i needed was a razor blade and i just peeled a side and ripped it off with one quick pull and it came off leaving no residue. Except for the rear but i just used 3m adhesive remover. took me about 20 mins to do everything
use straight ammonia(you can buy this anywhere)....about like 75% ammonia and 25% water....use warm to HOT water in a spray bottle....cut a little etch out with a razor and peel and spray, peel and spray..kinda as you go.....for the rear, you might want to use a heat gun because the sun likes to bake that on.....use a green weeny(pot scrubber) and the same ammonia mix (hot water) and that should do the trick without ruining the rear defroster...HTH

Use black garbage bag, place over window film; use water to have it stick. Run car on defrost, rear and front - on hot of course for 35-45 mins, the film will just peal right off, not glue left on window. BOO YEAH!
gleinz & w00t are both correct, those are the 2 ways of doing it right.
i use to put tint on and take it off on the cars at my dads shop.
its good to do it in the summer with the garbage bag, because the sun will cook up the window. but now with the cold weather you gotta turn up the heat
