Its int he latest turbo mag, comes with Weld aluminum rear skinnies.
My question is the article says weight savings for 70-90 lbs including wheels, now is this measured from stock wheels to the racing alumnumi skinnies ? that alone is about 60 lbs weight savings so does the rear suspension really save that much weight ? I really want to get this setup for my CHEETAH but not if its gonna cost a bundle with very minimal weight savings (compared to lets say the MMR/MB kit).

Good question. I've always wondered about that claim also. Pulling the wheels out of the equation, I can't see that much of a savings. Also, once you set it on the wheelie bar, does it really matter what shock is on the car? The brake system is nice but that is just used for staging and not stopping.
I have it but havent used it on the track yet(testing and tuning by Feb.) . My kit was one of the first protypes from 3 years ago. The kit itself is quite pricey but the weight savings are huge from a factory suspension/trailing arm setup.
There are a couple of other quick class racers that have this setup already and have nothin but good results.

Earl, I think the article said Jotech uses it maybe Tony can shed some light on this ...
proclassracer, so the weight savings on your prototype WITHOUT wheels is significant like how much ? 50 -80 lbs ? any idea ? also, how is the wheel offset relative to the rear 1/4 fender when the rear is dramatically lowered ? have you tried it yet ?
most of all, what kind of pricing you remember ?
thanks,
Greg

We run it on our car. We used to run the RPM rear suspension setup. It was a little lighter than stock but not much. When i installed the nuformz I weighed it all. The whole kit, still in the box it came in, weighed 45lbs. This is without the wheels. When i took off the rpm stuff I weighed one whole side (w/o wheels) and it was 40lbs. Keep in mind the nuformz came with a staging brake and lines too. All in all, the kit is 35lbs. lighter than the rpm. Another thing is the brakes. The rotors that come with the nuformz kit are so light its ridiculous. It's like picking up a piece of cardboard or something. This is especially good since this is rotating weight. I don't think the wheels are really much lighter than the bogarts so I wouldn't really consider that a factor. Other than that, they just look cool!
It may be a little hard to see but here when lowered on the ground it is tucking quite nice with no cutting
I dont remember how much weight was saved but I remember somewhere over 50 -60 lbs without wheeels. The list price on this kit was around 4500 without wheels.

proclassracer, nice race car, I hope you're not all motor but looks liek you are with that scoop ?
thanks for the info, weight and braking setup is top notch, but LOL $4500 jesus mother ... its well worth it but damn.
I wonder if I really need those shocks with wheelie bars for an all motor car ?

before you go and spend 4500 bucks on a rear suspension, try giving Nate Romero of Race101.com an e-mail. he makes custom rear ends for vw's and hondas both of which help them cut 1.5-1.6 60fts all day long.
give him all the details of what you want and/or need and he will help any way he can im sure. he has been a pro-racer for quite some time and hell, you may even know him.
he owns the fastest fwd all motor VW in the country.

The quality isn't even close to the Nuformz Kit...It was a Solid Rear Suspension...noone run's that really...Can't fight Physics...gotta work with it.

i have always been a strong believer of function over fashion. i know one thing, his rear end on his race corrado only weighs 14lbs. besides, they must be doing something right, 1.5-1.6 60's aint too shabby.
im not saying its for everyone and im not trying to make a sale for nate either, i was just trying to shed some light on other areas.
take care.

Charlie (From B20vtec.com) on this Board, went 1.55 60-ft with Apex N1 Suspension, stock. Food for Thought...

yea we were able to pull good 60's with our setup last season...we got better and better as the season progressed. Hopefully we will continue the trend next season. We have a few new tricks up our sleeves coming, Solid rear axle....doors (finally) and a totally new engine setup....and yes we are getting rid of that silly old stock ecu and vafc.
Crossing our fingers for high 1.4's next season consistently. Maybe if we ever got that thing on a dyno it would have helped lol....

Locked Rear Suspension isn't the answer to good 60ft's.
A Fast-Rebounding Shock paired with a Semi-Heavy Spring is, IMHO.
Either that, or a Fast Rebounding shock, light spring, and Wheelie Bars...
Even with the Linked-Rear Suspension...yu need 'Something' that gives alittle.

you must not have looked very close to the rear end setup on the civic, its not locked.
as i said before i was just trying to shed light on other options.
personally, spending very little $$ on materials and doing it myself is worth the .05 on the 60ft, compared to spending $4500 bucks for a ready made unit and be lighter at the same time.
edit: this doesnt give a very good shot of the rear end but its the best one i could scrounge up.......
