Default Track Guys

Just curious how many of you guys tow your cars or how many of you drive you cars to the track. I know you would have to be pretty serious about racing to tow your cars to the track, but I am just curious who packs all of their stuff in the back of the R or who tows.

you tow your car to the track incase you crash it and you have no ride home.

That is actually what I am most worried about is breaking something or wrecking and not having a ride home and having to pay for towing. How many of you track guys have had major problems at the track that caused you to have to get the car towed??

I started towing since I didn't want to risk my daily driver on a Sunday afternoon right before work on Monday. Now I can't turn back since my car isn't street legal and doesn't have any glass on the driver's side.

For me, the best part about towing is that I don't have to compromise my street setup OR my track setup since it's no longer the same car. Stiff and loud on the track, soft and cozy on the ride home

High Preformance Driving Events..

I pack and drive.
Exception being the 2002 ITR expo... that was a little bit farther than I would want to tow my car back from.

Drive. Cross fingers that I don't break. Going to start driving two vehicles so I have a ride home if something does happen.

So I am assuming that there isn't really "racing" at these type of events and that it isn't timed.

Willard- you have been to a lot of events. Have you ever had a large enough problem where you had to get your car towed??

I always drive to the track...and I'm told that I drive like I towed my car to the event.

Tow now, although used to drive to and from. Now that I'm racing, there's too much risk of being stranded, therefore the need to tow became reality.

BTW, it's not necessary that I tow, but it sure is nice knowing that I have a ride to and from the track if something breaks.

Yes... at VIR-S the left front wheel bearing on my car went to crap.

I called my father and he was at the track with the truck and trailer to rescue me on Sunday morning.

Most of my Honda Challenge friends have to tow, but one H2 competitor still drives his ITR to the races!
Well, I guess this would be me. Yes, I drove to every Honda Challenge race last year, except one(Summit Point), where I borrowed a truck and trailer to haul the car. I haven't had an incident during the races yet(knock on wood) which kept me from driving the car home. However, I did have the distributor fail on me, while instucting at VIR during an HPDE... I called AAA and they towed me home... no biggie, the gold membership rules(first 100 miles free, I think). The worst part was waiting for the tow truck to get there.

You guys that tow... Do you use a trailer that the car goes all the way into or just a dolly type trailer where the two front wheels only go up.

In 2003 I will tow.

When you drive to the track and have a problem you find out very quickly who your real friends are...

Thanks Sam (who broke my car and then drove me around to fix it)
