Default intake and exhuast springs for valvetrain

okay i had some type R valve springs which came off the intake part of a type R and now i just got some skunk2 valve springs because i heard that the intake has to have the more aggressive springs. So my question is their any differance between the intake valve springs and exhaust valve springs because a guy at a local shop i know told me there wasn't and just put the skunk's on the intake side and type R's in the exhaust side and should work just fine. Now i have a gs-r so just want to know what's the logical thing to do buy some exhaust itr's or do what the guy said?

If you have a full set of Skunk2 valvesprings, use them all. Intake and exhaust valvesprings are the same. The stock intake springs are stiffer than the stock exhaust springs. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Are you running big aftermarket cams? Are you thinking of modifying your ECU to raise your rev limit? What is your setup?

well i only purchased the intake side of the skunk's because i split them with my brother and we knew intake side is what mattered and since you are saying that all stock valve springs are the same i guess i will go with my type R valve springs which came off the intake side and put them on the exhuast side. I have CTR cam shafts and am raising the rev limit to at least 9 maybe 9,200 and so on. BUt i know that it will handle 9 at least. I have skunk2 Ti retaineers, Type R valves, Spoon head gasket. Also i am going to be running low shots of nitrous later on so that's why i haven't purchased the big horsepower cams shafts and was told factory cams would help better. I am getting hondata to tune everything out and not require a new ecu chip. thanks for the help.

All stock valvesprings are not the same. What I said was the Skunk2 springs are all the same-i.e. you use the same springs on both sides. The ITR intake springs will be fine on the exhaust side, and will actually be a little better than stock ITR exhaust springs up to the stock redline. I can't vouch for the ITR springs above 8,400 rpm, if it was me, I would run all Skunk2 springs.
