Default B18C5 Cams in a B16A2 - Reliable?

Im thinking of swapping 01 B18C5 cams into my B16A2, my question is how reliable is this setup? I want to keep my car as reliable as possible and dont want any headaches. I also dont plan on modding any electronics, I just want to swap em in.

From what I understand the difference between the two is that the ITR cams have a more agressive profile. Can this cause any long term damage? Someone please explain....

Thanks H\T!!!

It's gonna be reliable but when modding always bring asprin with you in your tool box!

the R cams are more aggressive, but they're not going to cause you any problems if they're installed correctly. You will notice a little more pull, and they idle perfect, so there's no reason why you shouldn't throw em in.

How much gain am I going to expect? HP... Why didnt honda just use these cams in the B16 in the first place?

Anyone running this setup?

Well the R cams are special so they put them in their special motor. That's just one of the extras that makes the ITR motor better than the B16A2 and the B18C1.

You should try a JDM Civic Type R intake cam instead - it has an even better profile than the ITR cams.

And in any case, you need to have it dyno tuned to get the desired results.

Every motor is different, so we cannot tell you what hp gains to expect.

As far as reliability goes, it's an O.E part so you have nothing to worry about. My only concern would be the install itself, not the parts being installed.

If I were you I'd go with Skunk2 stage 1, Toda Spec A, or JUN stage 1 cams if you want a better drop-in set of cams.

The 01 USDM ITR cams are supposed to be the same as the CTR cams, so that would be nice.

Just don't expect too big of a gain, because even though the R cams are better, they're not some crazy-*** difference from the B16A2 cams.

About 4-6 is what I rememeber seeing on a dyno once. Not that big of a gain for the price. Do like B18C5-EH2 says and get the Toda's, Skunk2's or the Jun's. U+YOu will see a bigger gain in HP and they still have a good idle to em.

Do a search and you will find infor on cams in regards to ITR cams....You might want to change your springs and retainers to ITR too! (I would)

if u dont want to raise your rev limit nor have the extra cash (for rets and springs), stock valvetrain is fine. but since you are swapping the cams, u might as well get some adjustable cam gears also. tuning
