Default Water pump needs replacing

Hey guys,

Have you replaced your water pump yet? Our is leaking and I fear that it may break soon. If I go to the dealer and get the water pump replaced, and the timing belt replaced, what is the cost going to be?

I want to get it replaced for my brother as his Christmas Gift... but I'm not rich.

Thanks for the help,
Dave

I didn't get my replaced when I had the timing belt done and it started leaking 15,000 miles after the work. So, I've been driving on a leaky water pump for 30K miles now. I just keep a watchful eye on it and make sure the coolant is topped off. Get it done with the T Belt

timing belt from dealership cost $60-68. i got mine for $50 right before i found out that http://www.jdmhondaparts.com sells it for $40. damn water pump cost me like $106 i believe - thats with a 15% discount! tax included...

EDIT: oh..thats a vtec water pump...and most people said to change the tensioner thingee too but i didnt do it and i wish i did...www.inlinefour.com sells a kit...but there kinda expensive... if i could do it over..id try to find a place that rebuilds water pumps and ask them to use the vtec turbine with the ls 19 teeth sprocket...that thing would pump soo much water...coolll..drooolll...of course i dont know if anyone done it...but it would pump a lot of water...

cost me exactly 5 bills out the door from the acura dealer.. but that was with a valve adjustment.. timing belt and accessory belts and water pump.. they said the tensioner thingy doesn't need to be replaced and they didn't recommend people do it.. my suggestion to you is to buy the parts on internet and bring it to them.. they will charge you full retail price for the parts otherwise..

IF you pay for my gas and food I'll come down to chicago to fix it. I changed my belt and bought a gsr water pump from advanced auto for $96. Labor cost, was scratched knuckles and alot of swearing.

if you need to replace it.. do it soon. if it breaks... it will seize your timing belt and you can damage your head. its costly at the dealer... and not as costly at other shops. doing it yourself will be difficult if you do not know what to do.
