How to trick the clutch doing a remote start?
Doing an install for a friend....
how would you go about tricking the clutch into thinking its depressed when you're trying to remote start it?
its a dei python unit.

Find the neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal bar and unplug it. Get a couple of t-taps and wire them together. But be damn for sure that the car is left outta gear.
Yeah all you have to do is reach up to the top of the clutch and follow the 2 wires that come off it to the harness. Just cut those 2 wires and solder them together and bang you never have to press it in. But like the guy before said if you ever leave it in gear the car is going to think it's Herbie The Love Bug and drive around by itself.
a nicer way is to use a bosh relay and hook it up so that when your alarm is on it automatically connects the two wires at the clutch pedal by latching on, and when the alarm is disarmed, the clutch wires disconnect.
This way, your clutch still acts 100% normal, but also allows for remote start when your car is on.
You might want to also consider getting a proper manual remote start alarm, or making DAMN sure your car can never be in gear and the remote start circuit enabled at the same time.
Hope this helps

Your friend will eventually start the car in gear, not that you or he cares...
Bosch style relay - go to radio shack and look for a relay labeled 85,86,87etc on next to the pins...

Do you know me? Or my friend? yeah that's what I thought.
how the hell do you know if he's going to start the car in gear or not?
like i said, he N-E-V-E-R parks in gear.
Just in case you missed that:
nev·er [Audio pronunciation of never] ( P ) Pronunciation Key (nvr)
adv.
1. Not ever; on no occasion; at no time: He had never been there before. You never can be sure.
2. Not at all; in no way; absolutely not: Never fear. That will never do.
Jeez. And it certainly IS worth it when its early in the morning and its like 10 degrees outside, windchills that make it feel like its -5,0000 and there's 3 feet of snow on the ground, and its not going to be warm again till late may early june. what would you rather do? go out there, sit in the car for however long u sit in it and freeze ur *** off, or hit a button 5 min before u have to leave, and by the time u get to ur car, its warm and cozy inside......the choice is clear to me
Its not like he's lazy and is going to do it to show off to his buddies or something. I realize its dangerous and you're pointing that out but seriously, he, and come to think of it, I also NEVER park the car in gear.

haha I know what you are saying. I never leave me car in gear also. I can't because my greddy turbo timer keeps my engine on when I am away.
I have thought about adding a remoste start but I thought it was more complicated that just adding a relay.
I like the relay idea but what wire of the alarm would you actually hook the relay up to?
The alarm has an activate signal but isn't that just switched "on" for a while and turns back to "off"?
Would it also drain the car's battery because a current will always be flowing through the relay when the alarm is armed?

i just figured out how to do it(took me about 15 minutes when i just stared under my dash), there is a harness, unplug it, jump the 2 wires together and put a fuse between it(i would recomend a 10amp fuse, thats what i am using), i will be doing this next wekend probably, i'll keep you updated on how it comes out, im putting in a viper 550esp, w/ window automation, prox, sunroof automation, 3 sirens(2 under the hood, 1 inside), keyless entry, extended range ant., pager, starter kill, hood pin, mercury switch on the hatch,.....and what ever else i can toss in over the course of 4 hours, lol......this should be fun
Talk to every alarm installer who thought they'd never remote start their [manual] car in gear. They eventually do and if they're lucky they only damage their car, if they're unlucky they hurt people. There's a guy on this board that walks with a limp because somebody installed it this way. Be safe, buy a remote starter designed to work on manuals. I know you think your invincible, or infallible but Murphy's law says otherwise.
clifford makes a module for their alarms that will check to see if the car is in gear or not, so i've heard.
Murphy's law or not, I have driven a stick for 4 years never once left it in gear, of course I'm obsesive combulsive, so that may be why. I know when it is 1000000 degrees outside (I live in texas) is the summer, remote start is my best friend.

i too never leave my car in neutral but if it wasnt for my e-brake being in good shape my car would have driven away last week when a coworker took my car to mcdonalds with out telling me, and it was left in gear. eventhough i am posative that i have leftmy car in neutral, i still will only remote start my car only when i can see it and can stop it if it starts to rock during crank. eventhough you can trust your self you cant trust anyone who has access to your keys. i by no means arew telling you DONT do it, just a word of caution. goodluck
