...And some calibrating. Here is a write-up I posted when I swapped my DX unit for an SI unit. Your stock unit is the same as the DX unit, so everything will be the same. Here's a link to the archived post:

IM me if you have any other questions.

The speedometer/Odometer from EK Civics(not si) are all the same. Just open up the clusters from the front and swap the entire speedo/odo into the new one. You don't need to mess with removing needles unless you are getting an Si cluster. Its easy to do just four screws like said before.

B96v6 I like the way you did yours, but i'm scared to do it. Especially with a Civic Type R Cluster.

I did it an even eiser way. You can also set the miles to what ever you want. Instead of removing the needles just swap out the entire spedo from your old cluster. All you have to do is remove four srews from the back of the cluster and the entire speedo pops out.

Folow these same steps with the new speedo, swapping the two with each other and you're done. Before screwing the new speedo back in, you can set the milage to whatever you want. My d16z6 came with 790,xxx miles on it, so thats what I set the milage to. Worked fine for me, hope this helps.

Umm we already covered that's how you switch out the speedo, but I was asking about an easy way to swap THE MILES ONLY.

rolling back the mileage on 96-00 civic clusters is way easy. i bought my cluster with 133k miles on it and set it to the correct mileage, 31k.
